Working with Tilly getting her ready for March, we decided to get Jordan out. We haven't messed with him for at least 6 months. He has grown and has only been in the arena once last summer. It took him few minutes to figure out why I was lunging him at the same time Sherry was lunging Tilly. He finally figured it out and went right to work. What a awesome boy. R Double H Ranch

I'm thinking some big black cloud is over this Ranch. Morgan aborted her baby 2 1/2 months early. The only filly Cody ever had with her. I'm so over whelmed with this. First we loose Cody and now his daughter, I really don't understand this whole thing. We named her Angel because that is what she is now with her dad. Jeana I wasn't expecting to send you another so soon, take care of her and show her the ropes.💔💔 R Double H Ranch

Buster Welch, long tied to the Peppy strain of horses, once said that Mr San Peppy out-sired himself with “Little Peppy.”

Foaled in 1974, the sorrel stallion was by Mr San Peppy by Leo San and out of Sugar Badger by Grey Badger III. Bred by Joe Kirk Fulton of Lubbock, Texas, Peppy San Badger, better known as Little Peppy, traced back to the foundation lines of the King Ranch. Peppy San Badger grew up on Fulton’s ranch under the care of Wayne Pooley, but Pooley never rode the c**t. He started handling the c**t, saddling him and putting him on the walker, but the c**t came down with distemper and further training was delayed until he could recover. The first time Welch saw the young stallion, he didn’t look good. “We stopped at Fulton’s place because I always like to see Mr San Peppy’s c**ts,” Welch said. “I’ll never forget how bad Little Peppy looked. He was standing in a round pen, rotten with distemper – a little skinny-looking c**t. I’d heard he was a good c**t, but he sure didn’t bowl me over. The next time I saw him, though, he was a 3-year-old, and the most majestic-looking young horse you ever saw.”

That next spring, Fulton heard about the King Ranch’s search for a Mr San Peppy son, so he sent Little Peppy down to the King Ranch for Welch to evaluate the c**t’s progress. Steven J. “Tio” Kleberg, who was managing the historical South Texas spread, brought Peppy San Badger back to the land of his ancestors to take over for his sire, Mr San Peppy.

A member of the NCHA Hall of Fame, Little Peppy won the NCHA Futurity in 1977 and the Derby in 1978, was reserve world champion in 1980, and won the 1981 NCHA Finals. Trained by Buster Welch, his total earnings topped $172,710.

In 19 seasons, Peppy San Badger sired 2,325 AQHA registered foals that have earned more than 7,200 points in all divisions, and won more than $25 million. The National Reined Cow Horse Association World Championship Snaffle Bit Futurity in 2001 illustrated just how prolific Peppy San Badger’s offspring have become. At the Snaffle Bit Futurity, four of the top 10 open horses were by sons of Peppy San Badger. At the NCHA Futurity, four of the top 20 finalists in the open and non pro were by Little Peppy sons.

Cutting legend Peppy San Badger was euthanized July 8, 2005, at 31 years of age.

Peppy San Badger was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2008.

WE are ALL life on Earth... 🌍
Without flowers, bees starve.
Without bees, WE disappear.
Every flower is a lifeline:
🌸 Flowers feed bees
🐝 Bees pollinate plants
🌱 Plants give us food, air, medicine
This isn't just about saving bees.
It's about saving ourselves.
Plant a flower. Save a bee. Protect our future.
Because their survival IS our survival.
"
Alternative emotional version:
"When the last flower dies,
the last bee follows.
When the last bee falls,
humanity follows.
We're all connected.
Plant flowers. Save bees. Save us all.

Leo San
Inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2014.
Leo San was that outstanding stallion, sire of American Quarter Horse Hall of Famers Peppy San and Mr San Peppy.

Leo San, foaled in 1949, was by Leo and out of San Sue Darks by San Siemon. He was bred by H.H. Darks of Wetumka, Oklahoma. Gordon B. Howell, a pedigree student and longtime breeder from El Paso, Texas, was looking for exactly those bloodlines when he found Leo San as an 8-year-old in 1957.

Howell bought Leo San and began building a broodmare band to complement the sorrel stallion, including Peppy Belle, the dam of Peppy San and Mr San Peppy.

“He was a horse with a tremendous amount of action, and he was a tremendous athlete – very agile despite his size,” Howell told the Quarter Horse Journal in January 1970. “He was broke to ride and very gentle with a wonderful disposition. He passed that disposition on to his get. Anybody could handle the horse under normal circumstances.”

Leo San earned nearly $750 in National Cutting Horse Association competition, in an era when first place might earn just a few dollars.

Foals sired by Leo San earned 1,671 AQHA points in halter and 1,497 points in all performance divisions. He sired one world champion and the earners of $14,329 on the racetrack. His foals were shown in every AQHA event, and in NCHA competition, they earned $219,890.15 – again in an era of smaller purses.

Leo San died of a heart attack in 1968, but Howell used Leo San daughters to continue his breeding program. As late as 1999 – 31 years after the stallion’s death – he was still ranked among the top 10 paternal sires of American Quarter Horses. He was also an outstanding sire of dams. His daughter’s foals earned points and money in NCHA, National Reining Horse Association, National Reined Cow Horse Association, Palomino Horse Breeders of America and the International Buckskin Horse Association – plus $245,221 on the track.

Leo San was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 2014.
Biography updated as of March 2014.

Born in 1952, Joe Cody was by Bill Cody and out of Taboo by King P-234. Foaled on Tom Cochran’s ranch in Buckholt, Texas, the sorrel c**t had a heritage to uphold.

Robert F. Roberts of Tyler, Texas, bought the sorrel c**t in 1953, and registered him in 1954. With Doc Spence in the saddle, Joe Cody was an AQHA Champion by 1955. The sorrel was shown almost exclusively in cutting and reining, and always placed in the top three.

In 1964, C. T. “Tom” Fuller of Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, bought Joe Cody and moved the stallion to Willow Brook Farms. Fuller was familiar with “Joe’s” offspring and decided to own the ol’ man himself.

Joe Cody went to work as a stud and sired horses that won in reining, cutting and other AQHA events. Joe’s offspring also won in other associations such as the National Cutting Horse Association and the National Reining Horse Association.

At the 1974 AQHA World Show, Joe Cody’s daughter Tawny Cody won the senior reining class, and Joe’s son High Proof won the junior reining.

Other notable offspring were Cassandra Cody, Topsail Cody, Corona Cody, Paprika Cody and Betsy Bar Cody. His foals were known for their unsurpassed reining skills, and the trait passed down to the second, third and fourth generations. Joe Cody’s grandson Topsail Whiz is leading AQHA and NRHA sire, and sired Wrangle Whiz, the third-place finisher at the 2005 NRHA Futurity Champion KR Lil Conquistador is a fourth-generation descendant of Joe Cody.

Joe Cody died in 1989 at 37, and was inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 1995.

Bob had surgery yesterday and we left for the hospital at 615 am. Bonnie and Toby went nuts when we left. They cried and barked for over an hour and then just waited at the window. We got home before 4, and Bonnie hasn't left Bob's side other then bed time and going potty. She hasn't eaten at all today. I didn't think they would get that upset. When we leave and no one is here and they are in their crate everything is fine when we get back. But this time they were being babysat and their sister was here. I think they thought we were never coming back. Weiner dogs are so funny.
