Michigan's snow is finally on it's way. Please make sure to keep your pets safe and warm. Here are a few winter weather safety tips:

❄️Shorten your dog's walks. Cold tolerance varies depending on size, breed and age. Dress them in a sweater/coat and booties, be aware of signs that your pet is getting cold and remember age, arthritis and health issues can make them more susceptible and can have a harder time regulating body temperature.

❄️Check the paws: Check your dog's paws frequently for signs of cold-weather injury or damage, such as cracked or bleeding paw pads. During a walk, a sudden lameness may be due to an injury or may be due to ice accumulation between his/her toes. You may be able to reduce the chance of iceball accumulation by clipping the hair between your dog's toes.

❄️Wipe the paws: During walks, your dog's feet, legs and belly may pick up de-icing products, antifreeze, or other chemicals that could be toxic. Keep some wipes by the door and wipe them down when you return home.

❄️Prevent poisoning: Clean up any antifreeze spills quickly, and keep the containers away from pets, as even small amounts of antifreeze can be deadly. Also keep your pet away from de-icers or areas where de-icers have been used, as these can make your pet sick if swallowed.

Recognize problems: If your pet is whining, shivering, seems anxious, slows down or stops moving, seems weak, or starts looking for warm places to burrow, get them back inside quickly because they are showing signs of hypothermia. Frostbite is harder to detect, and may not be fully recognized until a few days after the damage is done. If you suspect your pet has hypothermia or frostbite, consult your veterinarian immediately.

Keep food and drinks out of reach and make them a nice cozy comforting area they can rest in. Also remember to watch them close while outdoors.

Vet tech week might be over but we are still continuing our recognition to our wonderful technicians.

Today we shout out Beckie, also a long time familiar North Main face. Beckie has a knack for the fearful pets, often able to build trust with the most scared friends in an instant. She is also our resident expert phlebotomist, being able to draw blood from the most difficult veins!

Please take a moment to share your thanks to Beckie!

National Vet Tech Week celebrations continue with a tribute to Tayler, a devoted team member for two years. Her proficiency in client service and unique ability to connect with our feline friends has earned her the title of 'cat whisperer.' She is able to connect with even the most scared feline friends, and is always an advocate for their comfort while here at the clinic and at home with their parents. Tayler is a die hard Taylor Swift fan, and has 7 cats at home that call her Mom!

Please take a moment to share your gratitude for Tayler!

This summer our building underwent a bit of a refresh!! 😎

Special thank you to the following businesses who helped us!

Clean Cut Painting for giving the building a good power wash, and doing an amazing job painting the siding, doors, windows and gutters for a refreshed more lively look!

Silva Custom Design for installing our new privacy fence in the backyard. This will ensure that when we take all of our hospitalized patients outside, they are safe in a fenced in area!

Franks Outdoor Service for pulling the bushes and digging out the area by the building for the rock, (and also for providing all of our winter snow needs)!

Schmitty’s Property Services for installing our walkway!

Thank you to all, we love it ❤️
