Cracked windows with pets inside! According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, cracking the window isn't enough to keep the temperature of your car at a safe level. If your dog is distressed and at risk of severe injury or death, that cracked window will be shattered by police or bystander if that's what they need to do to save your pet's life.
It's going to be in the 90s this week. Don't leave your pet in your vehicle, window cracked or not. Leaving your furry family member at home is safer, and we all love coming home to a wagging tail! If you must take your pet with you, use grocery pick-up or do it during the evening hours when it's dark.
Please in this extended heat advisory, keep your furry family members safe and yourself safe from the heat, keep everybody hydrated and cool.

Please leave dogs at home this time of year especially, let them relax in their home with Air Conditioning. Dogs don't handle the heat like people. They pant to release heat. Dogs don't sweat like people which is a means of cooling our body. Cracking a window while going into a store "for just a minute" is never a good idea! Lots of air needs to circulate and you know there will always be a reason why it takes longer to get back to your car. Don't bring your dog on car trips if you can't bring them with you when you plan to get out of your car to run errands, etc... Please keep your pets safe!
