9:45 AM Update: Please standby for a official update from the City of Mclendon Chisholm. At this time, there is not a threat of dam failure. No evacuation order will be needed.

Original Post:

The City of Mclendon Chisholm is currently monitoring the status of the dam located in the Chisholm Crossing Subdivision. At this time an evacuation order has not been issued. However, an evacuation order may be necessary in the future. If you live on Fireside Dr, Parade Pt, Granite Ridge Rd, Highwater Xing, Stampede Run, or downstream on Brushy Creek you should take precautions to prepare to evacuate in case an order is issued.

If an evacuation order is issued, the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management will send a Nixle Emergency Alert. If you are not signed up already, text the keyword "RCOEM" to 888777 to sign up for these alerts.

The City of Mclendon Chisholm will meet with the Kaufman-Van Zandt-Rockwall Soil and Water Conservation District tomorrow at 9:30 AM to discuss the dam's status. The City will provide an update after that meeting.

Here is a list of potential things to prepare
- Round up your pets: get them secured and ready to go into the car with no way of escape before they are loaded into the car (this is especially important with cats).
- Have pet carriers, leashes, food bowls, food, litter boxes, litter, and other pet needs ready to go & ready for car (store in a secure place so these are easily loaded into the car).
-Have very important files, back‐up disks, plug‐in USB virtual drive, small compact file box ready to go. Include such things as homeowner’s policy, auto policies, life & investment files, bank records, legal documents, licenses, etc. (or store in a fireproof safe or fireproof bunker).
- Computer CPU (hard‐drive most important) if you have no back‐ups.
-Photograph albums, photo CDs, etc, ‐ Have these ready, packed, stored in a secure place to go immediately into car (or store in a fireproof safe).
- Cameras & expensive jewelry or important electronic devices.
- Suitcase filled with old but useable clothing, socks, underwear, jackets, sweatshirt, extra shoes, etc. Keep this packed ahead. Include a bag for him and for her of toiletry items, including: deodorant, disposable shavers, extra toothbrushes, shampoo & shaving cream, toothpaste, extra regular
- medications to last a few days.
- All household & car keys, wallet, handbag, cell phones & any credit cards that you might need.
- Complete phone list or phone address book (snail and e‐mail), including cell phones of neighbors family.
- Special or valuable items (make your own list).

We are hiring licensed, certified, and/or experienced veterinary technicians. This month we have a baby coming and also someone moving- all wonderful life events! We have an amazing core team but those who are here cannot fill the gap in work hours that these two have been so generous with.

The human and animal bond is amazing!

This is Autumn, our sweet baby who was born with a deformed front leg who we took in as our own.

❤️ She loves being groomed by her people- who rub her eyes and scratch around her neck and jaw.
❤️ She definitely likes butt scratching best.
❤️ She's 100% diva.
❤️ She communicates what she wants.
❤️ She can jump/climb just like she has 4 healthy legs.
❤️ Typical of cats, she doesn't always like attention.
❤️ Have you ever tried to take a photo while your cat is loving you? NOT EASY! Here's mine... 100% worth it. 😻

Earlier today we needed to assess and determine if there was a need to change our hours for today and tomorrow. With local weather alerts through tomorrow morning, staff that live further East (hit harder) those whose daycare was closed and your safety and theirs in mind, we adjusted CFVC hours for today, Monday and tomorrow, Tuesday. We are still operating the majority of our hours to be here for you, too! Keep safe and warm!

Home Needed for a Pup with a special personality
Harley is a 1 and 1/2 year old spayed female 27lb mixed breed dog that is current on vaccines. She is a high energy pup that needs a quiet home with lots of outdoor time. She knows basic commands but is looking for someone that has the time to work with her more. She is not fond of small spaces and we have been told she can be destructive so a home with lots of outdoor time is a must. Due to her high energy a home with young kids is not the place for her. We believe she would do well in a household with larger dogs.

For further information, below is a Purina letter to read that we received:

Dear Veterinary Professional,

You may have seen or been asked by your clients about recent online rumors claiming Purina products are harming pets. These rumors are FALSE, and they are causing unnecessary stress for pet parents. We do NOT have any health or safety issues with any of our products, and the people behind this rumor have admitted in several places online they do not have evidence that any issue exists with our brands. Some of the online posts read as a ‘pet food warning’ and are very scary to pet owners. We are working to address this misinformation, but these rumors continue to spread quickly and may be creating panic and concern from your clients. We would appreciate your support in dispelling this rumor to the extent you are comfortable. Please help these two babies find a forever home and share!

Story: We have a sweet client who found a stray cat this past May. She began taking care of her and one day realized that it was a momma to be! Momma cat had these two cute boys, Rudy and Russell which have been cared for and loved. Both boys are fully vaccinated and are just now at the age to be neutered.

The boys are very bonded and would like to stay together.

With all the social media hype about upper respiratory infections in dogs we'd like to share this Q&A from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) with you. Contagious Upper Respiratory Infections are not unusual and most pets recover within 5-10days. At CFVC we have NOT been seeing an increase in respiratory cases and have NOT seen any cases that do NOT recover normally.

Knowledge is power and often prepares and prevents! 🐾🐾❤️

Canine infectious respiratory disease complex (CIRDC) is in the news, and clients understandably have questions. Here’s information you can share to help address their concerns.

As you prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, here is a friendly reminder: our dogs especially enjoy the smells of holiday meals and often will find ways to obtain some of the tasty foods made for our family and or friends. So, as a reminder, please keep in mind that some of these foods are not pet friendly.
