Meet this week's cat of the week, Tiki! She came to as an owner surrender about a month ago with three other cats she was living with. She was very scared at first and took a while to come around. Now she has shown us the true Tiki! She is a very sweet and social cat. Tiki is estimated to be a little over a year and a half old. She loves to be where you are (she will follow you) and get all the attention from you. She does prefer all paws on the ground, no holding! But she will be right there rubbing at your legs and pawing you for pets. Tiki is a love-biter, but she is gentle with it! When she isn't begging for your attention she likes to play with toys or nap in any kind of cat tent or covered bed. Tiki is truly a sweetheart and has a huge amount of love to give to someone. Meet the beautiful Belle! She came to us as a stray back in September and is now ready to find a home. Belle is estimated to be around 3 years old. When she came to us she was very close to having kittens! She had them not long after her arrival. You might notice her left eye looks a little different. It doesn’t bother her one bit! The vet suspects it is from an old eye injury. Now that she has nursed her kittens (all adopted) and has been spayed she is ready to settle into a home where she can relax and play. Belle likes to have free roam at the shelter and do as she pleases. She loves attention from people and coexists with the other cats at the shelter. If there is a wand toy out she will be the first to play. Belle loves toys! We hope you all are enjoying the snow day! ❄️ Lizzie is practicing her snow angel making skills from the warmth of the shelter. She would like to thank all of our supporters for their donations after our last plea from Callie for supplies! We forgot to add, we are also running low on Purina Kitten chow dry food and Purina adult chow dry food and would appreciate any donations once the weather clears. The cats all have enough food until then! Stay safe and warm! Thank you for your continued support.

Lovey's back this week as cat of the week! She's hoping her New Year will be off to a great start in her new forever home. Can you help Lovey accomplish her goal in the New Year? Lovey came to the shelter with her kittens back in July. All of her kittens have since found homes, now she is waiting on hers! She is estimated to be 2 years old. Lovey is a very calm, quiet, and laid back cat. She can be found napping most of the time in a cozy spot or wherever you are. She lives up to her name and is full of love. She enjoys your attention when she isn't relaxing. Lovey doesn't play much here at the shelter but she does get along with other cats. Looking for a light in your life? Eclipse could be the one to steal your heart! Eclipse came to us as a transfer from Nottoway, VA with his sibling Moon who has since been adopted. He was very scared and didn’t trust people at first. With time and patience Eclipse turned around and showed us how wonderful of a cat he is! He is still a kitten, at 9 months old, and is full of spunky kitten energy. He also has a calm and relaxed side too. Eclipse has become best friends with June-Bug (Grey cat) and they can often be found together snuggling at the shelter. He loves sleeping in cozy beds, he’s pretty quirky and can be found sleeping in very interesting positions.! Eclipse now likes getting attention and will sometimes follow you around like a shadow and will let you hold him when he feels up to it. He does still sometimes paw at you when you try to give him attention and he doesn’t want it. He’s come a long way though and we are so proud of him! Eclipse would love a home that is patient with him while he transitions into a new environment as it’s scary for him and respects his space until he’s feeling comfortable enough to be the sweet boy he is. He would also benefit from having a feline companion as he loves other cats! If you would be interested in June-Bug as well, he would be very happy. If adding a feline friend to your family is on your Christmas wish list this year, why don't you consider Kimi? This sweet girl has been with us at the shelter since March. She came in as a transfer from North Carolina. Kimi was very shy at first and wouldn't come out of her cage. Now she can be found out and about at the shelter. She loves napping on the highest platform of the cat tower or in a nice plush bed on the floor. Kimi might take a second to warm up to you as she can be a little hand shy, but she loves pets down her back. She also adores other cats and can often be found playing, grooming, or napping with them. Not only is Kimi a gorgeous kitty, she has the cutest meow too! We would like to show off sweet Velvet again, this fabulous feline has been cat of the week in the past but is still waiting patiently for her fur-ever home! She’s been in our care since February. Velvet is about 4 years old. She is you could possibly dream of in a cat. Velvet is calm, affectionate, and quiet! She loves cushy beds to take naps in, we think she would even love a nice lap to snuggle into as well where she can get lots of pets and chin scratches. Velvet doesn’t play much, but give her a nice window and she will be in paradise! When she first came into the shelter she didn’t like other cats at all but has shown us she is okay with other cats that are respectful and not overly rambunctious. If you’re looking to add a feline to your family, please consider Velvet! She has nothing but love to give and is the coolest cat around.

On the top of Max's Christmas list this year is to find his fur-ever home! We aren't sure why no one has scooped him up yet. Max is the last of his siblings to get adopted, he's been to a few adoption events where has put himself out there too. Max is still full of kitten energy as he's only 5 months old. He loves to play with toys! He will carry them around the shelter in his mouth while he plays. You can find him dragging wand toys with feathers around too. Max is very amusing to watch! He loves other cats as well, he can frequently be found taking cat naps with Junebug in particular here at the shelter but will cozy up or play with anyone willing to. He is also very sweet and loves getting pets from people. As you can see he is a master at kneading too, give him a fluffy bed and he will make you bread! This week's featured feline is the beautiful Eloise! This pretty lady came to us recently as a local transfer from Zara's Chance. She is about 5 years old and is fully vetted and ready to go home with you. Eloise is a bit bashful at first but will quickly warm up to you and loves attention!! She is a very sweet girl that loves getting pets and will start to purr and lean in for more as soon as you start petting her. She likes having free roam at the shelter and gets along with the other cats. We recently found out that she loves to chase laser pointers too! She still has a playful side. If you're looking for a calm cat that likes to nap and is pretty laid back, Eloise might be the cat for you. She's got nothing but love to give!

From our shelter to home, their journey begins. With the holidays approaching we are almost at Max compacity and are crucially low on Purina Adult/Kitten hard food and also paper towels. Meet the silly Squall! This sweet and quirky boy came to us from Catawba County North Carolina after hurricane Helene came through and devastated parts of the state. We stepped in to take some cats from their shelter so they could help out the surrounding counties affected with intaking cats. Squall was a bit shy at first when he came to us but quickly warmed up and showed us how truly sweet and silly he is! Squall is 9 months old, so he is still full of kitten energy. He loves to play and romp around with other cats. He would be a purr-fect friend for a cat in your home! He is also very social with people and loves attention. Squall also is quite entertaining to watch play with toys too, he gets pretty silly with them. It's hard not to fall for Squall! Lucy thanks everyone who donated wet and dry kitten food after our last plea! Despite kitten season coming to an end, we still have lots of little kitten bellies to keep full at the shelter. We used up the last of our wet kitten food today. Any donations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all for your support of our lifesaving work.

Look at this gentleman! Monte came to the shelter recently as an owner surrender. His family made the difficult decision to surrender him as his family had to move and couldn't take him. Monte was originally adopted from Madison-Greene last year and is about 3 years old. He adjusted very quickly to coming back. He loves taking naps in fluffy cozy beds, getting head rubs, and relaxing. Monte gets along well with the other cats here at the shelter too. He is the perfect cat! If you're looking to adopt and are looking for a calm, affectionate, and laid back cat Monte checks off all the boxes. Please consider adopting Monte today!

Kitten season is in full swing! Our kitties are having a blast playing with staff and volunteers this Saturday. Come by and get your kitten fix! These cuties aren’t available yet, but will be soon.

Lizzie would love to be making biscuits in your bed instead!!! She has been kneading shelter beds for a long time as she has been with us for a while.
