Let me clarify when I say stall boarding. Your horses are turned out daily. We put our eyes and hands on your horse daily. Your horse has a stall assigned them in an increment weather we bring them in. If you’re tired of your horse, standing in manure in mud if you’re tired of your horse, not getting the proper carry deserves and needs give us a call!

🐎🐎🐎 As a result of building our new barn we have 5 openings for stalls!! Our stalls are massive and can easy be used for foaling!!

We are located approximately 20 miles north of Greensboro at exit 161.

Here at Wolf Island Stables we provide a personal approach to boarding. Different from most barns we do not label ourselves as one discipline of riding. We have a very diverse barn with one thing in common, “ We love our horses”. Here we tailor our services to your request.

We provide a calm, quiet atmosphere with little distractions. On most occasions you’ll have that quality time with your horse. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our barn and grounds. Each are meticulously maintained.

The owners and the best barn manager, Abigail Hall, live on the property and always have their eyes on your horse.

Horses are handled daily with turnouts and observed for hydration and injuries. We don’t not over board and our pastures are well maintained. We only provide stall boarding because we want your horse to have the the best care and protection from the weather. No standing in mud here. Horses blanked as needed or as you request.

Some of our amenities are a large outdoor arena, covered arena, round pen, hot walker, hot/cold wash pit, some trails, covered area for trailers. Stalls are disinfected and cleaned dailey with all the shavings you want. Access to your horse and riding 24/7.

Applications are available and an interview are required so we both are a good fit.

Feel free to stop by to talk to our boarders, visit our faculty and contact our vets. We simply are the best!

Tis the season for horse owners and boarding facilities
most horse owners are familiar with the temperature changes that affect our horses. As a boarding facility owner and responsible for 24+ horses. We have learned to never take anything for granted nor, try to articulate what’s going on. Things we look for daily are gum colors, lethargic behavior, water cunsumption, temperatures, biting at sides, head hanging-low, change in activity, mood changes, obvious excessive laying down thats a gimme, and the list goes. Top suggestion... soak their food! They are not going to consume water as normal. Water troughs are freezing! Waiting until they are on the ground and so obviously In trouble that a true green horn knows to call the vet, catch it before it gets to that point
Most importantly remember your veterinarian, they go through the situation with you! I hope that you don’t have any issues but remember it’s the season. No matter how hard you try it’s inevitable at some point. Knowledge is power. They don’t speak our language we have to learn to speak theirs. Happy Trails!

Cheyenne Dog Soldiers
Of all the typical Plains tribes, the Cheyenne were most distinguished for warlike qualities. Few in number, they overcame or held in check most of the peoples who opposed them, and when the westward movement of European civilization began, they made more trouble than all the rest combined. In short, they were preeminently warriors among peoples whose trade was war.
As in other Plains tribes, the warriors of the Cheyenne were organized into societies or orders. These societies were fraternal, military, and semi-religious organizations with special privileges, duties, and dress, usually tracing their origin to some mythical culture hero or medicine man. Each society had its own songs and secret ritual and exacted certain observances and standards of its members.
Of these organizations, none played such a part in the history of the Plains as the “Dog Soldiers” of the Cheyenne.
