Peace, love and goats!

I think it's time for an introduction:

My husband and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for a little over 10 years. We have 4 crazy kids; there's never a dull moment at our house. And that wasn't enough so we decided to add goat kids to our lives🤪.

We live on a small acreage smack dab in the middle of Iowa. We raise dairy goats(Mini Nubians and Nigerian Dwarfs).

My husband nor I were raised on a farm, although in highschool I spent countless hours at a friend's farm. My parents would call me late on school nights telling me, "it's time to come home!" I loved every part of farm life!

Farm life teaches so many great life values, responsibility, and experiences; we wanted this for our own kids.

Starting this business and being able to share our adorable baby goats with you is just the start of our bigger vision of being able to share farm life with you.

Avi is wonderful client and Leaser that we have had over the years. Only one of her girls got pregnant this year but she got a beautiful little Buckling and she may even get to lease on her own now or just have babies at her own house. This is the picture of the little boy that was born. he’s just beautiful and so sweet! Thanks for being such a, great client and friend over these years!!❤️

Remember, all of Windy Hill Ranch‘s goats went to the Broomhead’s in Davenport. They had them ultrasound it and out of all of the girls and our bucks, there was only one girl that did not get pregnant. Everybody else did! They are going to have a huge herd To pick from!!! Get on their list! Excellent bloodlines, and the best milking lines you can find! Look up howling acres, Farm today! You will not be sorry these girls are already three months along so into months there will be an enormous amount of ADGA registrable babies on the ground. They also have baby doll sheep. Hereford calves to look at! If you want Nigerian dwarf goats, this is the place to go!

Also look for shivering. If they are shivering badly they are cold if they’re in the barn and they are just shivering like crazy. That’s when you need to do some thing with heat. If they’re laying around, don’t care about the heat lamp don’t seem to be cold at all. They seem to be comfortable in the barn that’s fine. But if they’re in there shaking, you need a safe heat lamp or lots of bedding that they can get into to warm up.

MINI GOAT OWNERS!
These goats cannot handle this weather at all or this wind. If you already have your goats in an insulated barn, you should be good to go! If your barn is not insulated, that means the wind can get right in so I suggest or encourage you to make sure they have a lot of bedding or get your heat lamps on to keep them warm , I don’t know anything about other animals horse people or dog people but I do know no matter what animal you have they should not be out in this! Put them in your garage put them in your house in a crate get a heater hooked up get your heat lamps on. This is deadly to your animals. if they won’t go in, if you can’t get them to go in, it’s not your fault! You can only get them to do what they will do. Just like donkeys, and very stubborn! Hopefully, when they get cold enough, they will go into their shed or into the barn on their own goats don’t handle when it’s extremely hot. They need a fan and when it’s extremely cold it got to get out of that temp. Just giving some advice this morning. I wish you all the best of luck but it’s gonna be cold like this for a while yes it’s OK for them to stay in for a while.

I’m sure By now you’ve heard the news that Windy Hill Ranch has downsized and most of our herd went to Stephanie and Steve Broomhead, howling acres farm in Davenport. I want to know if there’s anyone in the immediate area or even someone a little out of the immediate area that leases their bucks either at their home or leases them out To someone else’s home. I have a lot of leasing people that are looking for somewhere to go. If you lease your bucks or know someone who does, please let me know and tell me how you want to get in touch of that person either by giving your phone number or them giving their phone number to you. Hey, Windy Hill Ranch followers,

I want you to know that it has been a privilege and an honor working with all of you over the years. I have loved every minute of it. Birthing season is literally something I look forward to all year, it’s like Christmas morning as a child. I thought I would have goats forever. Unfortunately, God had other plans, I’m not completely sure what they are yet, but I trust there is a purpose and a reason. I do have MS and it is virtually impossible for me to care for the goats, give them the attention they need, let alone, assist them during birth. However, there is some great news. Almost all of our herd are staying together! They are going to a wonderful ranch in Davenport IA, Their ranch is called, Howling Acres Farm. The new owners are Stephanie and Steve Broomhead. Their new website will be ready very soon! To get on the list for this Spring you will need to call Stephanie at 586-713-4056 (although the area code is for Michigan, it is Davenport IA) they will also have a new number as things move along. I encourage you to get on their list ASAP as it is going to fill quickly.  This is a beautiful ranch with wonderful facilities. They have a variety of different animals. The goats are going to be very happy there. Our website has already been taken down. so, please be on the lookout for Howling Acres Farm.

One other piece of exciting news is that before Alan and I Made this difficult decision, we made a trip to Rosasharn Farm in Rhode Island. We purchased two does and one buck From Rosasharn Farm. These goats came from champion Milking lines. These goats were purchased specifically for our customers who are serious about milk production and udder size. These three pure Rosasharn goats are also going to Howling Acres Farm. 

All goats are ADGA registered
