We want to thank everyone that participated in this past weekend's 1st Fall Learning Weekend that we hosted at the Lakeside Soccer Club. A huge thank you to Kelsey Kirkpatrick for bringing her knowledge, expertise, and great energy. We love having you here!

Also, a huge thank you to all the volunteers that helped us throughout the weekend. It takes a village to make this happen and we couldn't have done it without you. We want to say a special thank you to our full-time assistants Jenn Corbit and Jason Pierce !

We will be sending a post-event survey. We would like to make this the first of many learning experiences we host.

We are about a month away from our Fall Learning Weekend. We have openings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Specifically, we have openings:

- Friday: Facilitated Short Sequence Drills and Afternoon Run Thru
-Saturday: Run Thru and Threadles Workshop with Five Points
-Sunday: Morning Masters Handling Workshop with Kelsey and Morning and Afternoon Run Thru.

We are excited to announce that registrations are now open for the Fall Learning Weekend with Kelsey Kirkpatrick! There will be two rings available: one where Kelsey will be instructing and another for various other training opportunities.

We still have a few spots left in both the Masters Handling Workshop and the Young Dog Handling Workshop, both led by Kelsey. There are also openings for run-throughs and other training sessions in the second ring.

Save the date! On October 18-20, 2024, Kelsey Kirkpatrick will return to the Rochester, NY area for another set of workshops. This time, we will host all workshops at Lakeside Soccer Club in Webster, NY, the same location that DOTCORNY hosts its AKC Agility Trials. (Indoor, Great Artificial Turf). Please share with others in the area that may be interested.

We need your input to decide on workshop topics and also what we will offer in a 2nd ring we may have available. We have some ideas about offering a run thru (ISC and/or AKC Masters) in this 2nd ring.

We welcome your feedback as we decide on workshop topics and other offerings!

Warmer Weather = More Backyard Training!

Introducing Small Space Drills! You subscribe and we provide small setups (course maps) every two weeks to help build skills. Each setup will include two nested sequences with additional guidance. These drills would work in a 50x50 space and only require 4-5 jumps and ideally a tunnel.

For those interested, you can level up your backyard training and include online coaching for these setups. You can submit a video per setup and we can provide you feedback and coaching.

We are opening up "lottery" based registration of the remaining working spots for the Kelsey Kirkpatrick Workshop in April. We have limited working spots available. This includes:

- International Handling on Friday, April 19 - 1 Working Spot
- Novice/Young Dog Handling on Sunday, April 21 at 1:30 PM - 3 Working Spots

Our Story

Dog agility is a growing dog sport the truly requires teamwork between the handler (person) and their canine athlete partner. It’s a perfect sport for dogs that have a lot of energy and a willingness to learn.

Joel and Lori Basa started training dog agility as a place to bring their active dogs to exercise both mind and body. It grew from a hobby to a true passion. Dog agility is a great activity for a dog and person that increases the bond between you and your canine companion and is simply FUN! At Five Points Training, we want to share our knowledge of this growing sport of dog agility with you and your dog.

We offer a variety of dog agility classes at our location outside of Rochester, NY. Whether you are new to dog agility or are an established team, we have a class that fits your needs. We offer both group classes and private lessons that best fit you and your dog’s learning style. Our dog agility program starts with building a solid set of foundation skills that will allow you and your dog to transition to running courses (handling).
