Congratulations to our 2023 calendar winners, and a huge THANK YOU to all who participated in our contest!! We had 43 entries! Winners were determined by the totals of their Facebook fundraiser and donation box combined. The winners were sent an e-mail last night with a link to a scheduler from Firefly Studio. The
calendar pictures will be taken on Sunday, August 28.

Join us at Schuyler County Humane Society, 17000 County Farm Road in Rushville, for our Spring Dog Obedience Classes. The classes will be taught by Dannette Phelps from Dog Training by Danette. This will be a four week course occurring every Tuesday starting May 17th at 5:45 pm (so the class schedule will be May 17th, May 24th, May 31st and June 7th). The cost is $55.00 for all four weeks. Please have with you a choke collar or a prong collar, no harnesses or retractable leashes! If you can’t make the first class, you may start the following week.

Even if you have taken this class before it’s a wonderful way to refresh your skills and a great way to socialize your dog! We have no age limit other than your dog should be at least 2 months old. Dog must be current on vaccines and rabies shots.

Schuyler County Volunteer of the Year Awards:

Last night at the Annual , Schuyler County Board Chairman Chet Ester awarded Schuyler County Volunteer Organization of the Year to Schuyler County Humane Society !

The Schuyler County Volunteer Organization of the Year is given in recognition to a group or organization that has exemplified commitment towards the well-being of Schuyler County residents. Non-profits, Businesses, Churches, and community groups that serve the Schuyler County region are eligible for this award.

This year, we recognize an organization that is completely volunteer ran has a passion to help homeless, unwanted, and abandoned animals find loving, forever homes. With over 100 volunteers, this organization is a prime example of the power of community collaboration. From chores like cleaning to giving medication to animal transportation to fundraising, they do it all. As shared by a nominator, “On more than one occasion within minutes of making a phone call to one of the volunteers, the ball is rolling to get the animal the care it needs. Their volunteers act together like an automated system to get the job done. This group ROCKS!” Congratulations to SCHUYLER COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY for being Schuyler County Volunteer Organization of the Year.

A perpetual plaque will also be displayed at Rushville Fitness and Community Center in recognition of the 2021 Schuyler County Volunteers of the Year.
