Miss Charlie and the boys
Miss Charlie really enjoys playing with teasers and the boys next door were a little jealous 😸
We are bursting at the seams! On Friday we took in 9 small breed dogs from the same home. But we also have many more other dogs. Some have been with us for a month or more! We are still in the process of getting each new dog an individual petfinder.com post, but this takes a lot of extra time. So for now, here is a video of who we have in our adoption room. As time allows we will get the posts done, but you don't have to wait for us to do this in order to adopt! Please note, that ALL of the small breed dogs have been vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated. They are in the 5 to 8 year age range. They are not spayed or neutered yet. THEY WILL ABSOLUTELY NEED ADDITIONAL VETERINARY CARE! All will need dental work done and at least 2 of them have abnormal gaits, but don't appear to be injury related. Additional medical care and spay/neuter will be the adopter's responsibilities. Most are very friendly, others are timid/shy. All lived outdoors in sheds, so don't expect indoor manners.
You can visit our petfinder link for additional info on individual animals: https://www.petfinder.com/member/us/in/rushville/city-of-rushville-animal-shelter-in711/
The adoption fee of $100 is a refundable deposit. The adopter will be responsible to have the animal spayed or neutered within 90 days at the clinic of their choosing. If this is completed within the required 90 days the adopter is to submit required documentation that includes a spay/neuter certificate, a receipt for the spay/neuter, and a rabies certificate to get their refund of up to the deposited amount. Spay and Neuter is required for adoption per our adoption contract and by Indiana State Law. We accept cash, card (with a 3% charge), and check.
All dogs receive at least 1 distemper/parvo and Bordetella vaccine. If possible a heartworm test will be done and if negative the dog will be started on heartworm prevention. All animals receive a flea and parasite prevention/treatment and will be microchipped.

UPDATE: ADOPTED!
Frick and Frack have made progress in not hiding so much. They are starting to greet us when we come in the door and show curiosity of what going on around them. They are nearly 2 year old siblings that grew up living with an elderly lady who passed away recently. They are already spayed and neutered. They do not have to go home together, but if you are looking for a pair they are already good together. Adoption fees are still free until December 31, 2024.
