Reds on the Rise
Lot 16
Parabellum x Halestorm
BIG PIECES! When Zane called me from Canada almost 2 years ago now and told me he found the bull, we jumped at the opportunity. Red Six Mile Parabellum 675G brought home purple in his first public debut, winning calf champion at the 2020 NWSS. This will be the first daughter up for public auction and she gets our blood pumping! I don’t know if anyone else will ever be a stickler for ear set but this one’s skull and ears are way out there. No matter the angle she demands attention and tops it off with the cool dark colors and big dark hooves. These intangibles only get us more excited for this calf’s future as well as the Parabellum’s to come, DIG IN folks!

Reds on the Rise
Lot 15
Halestorm x Aces Jackpot

This one is bitter sweet. If you wonder about these Halestorm daughters check out Lot 1 and lot 16 to see the job they are doing as first calf heifers. It was a sad day but we lost Halestorm early this summer. It’s hard to explain the impact he’s had at McDonald Red Angus in such a short period of time and that’s what makes selling this female so complicated. Nevertheless we wanted the bull to represented, and felt we owed it to him and we think she has lots of potential. You won’t find bigger footed, softer ankled red angus cattle than these Halestorm daughters anywhere, and lot 15 is no exception. She’s got the trademark Halestorm rib cage with all the flexibility you could ask for. Show her by all means but buy her for your cow herd because the opportunities will be getting slimmer and slimmer.

Reds on the Rise
Lot 13
Revenant x Redemption
This calf hits home! If we were to describe what we are striving for in picture form, this would be the animal. Cattle that are opened up, big pinned with plenty of shape and dimension. Yet still sound and fluid when asked to move, but give up nothing to be desired from the side with amble amounts of presence and look. Point blank, we like this heifer a lot and think she has a big future in the ring and in the donor pen. We are pumped for wherever she lands!

Reds on the Rise
Lot 10
Revenant x Mulberry
If only they were all this dark pigmented and good hair. Lot 10 is quiet as they come but when she decides to show off it’s hard not to appreciate. This one’s got the big feet and legs with some added power and punch and we love that about her. Anyone that’s bred cattle for very long knows it’s a fine line of the combining the traits for look and attractiveness without giving up muscle and stoutness. We think lot 10 does a seamless job of blending those two worlds and are envious of whom ever gets to take this one home and create the next generation.

Reds on the Rise
Lot 8
Revenant x Declaration
Another Revenant daughter with a bit of a twist on the dam side. Wonder how these Declaration cattle are doing in production? Give Jesse Weber a call and ask him about his high selling Declaration son they call WEBR Declare. This tall fronted, high tying Rev daughter goes back to a Declaration first calf heifer that ties all the way back to Glacier Chateau cow stemming from the James herd located in Searsboro, IA. This heifer is awesome structured with a great look from the side, add feed and time and it’s a recipe for success.

Reds on the Rise
Lot 6
Revenant x Redemption

Got body? For one to be this round and bold bodied she still gets out with plenty of athleticism and struts her stuff. Revenant continues to make cattle with a unique look that you can’t help but take a second glance at. This one loves the camera and never seems to shy away from the bright lights. Green as they come but built for speed. Proven cow power from a young, up and coming donor that threw down our high selling bull in 2020 by PIE The Cowboy Kind. These two Revenant daughters are the result of her maiden voyage flush.

Reds on the Rise
Lot 1
Revenant x Halestorm
It’s been a long time coming! When we bought Red Six Mile Revenant and WEBR Halestorm this is exactly what we had in mind. Two bulls from two incredibly proven outfits that have made substantial progress in what we are building towards in Russell, Iowa. Study this female, study the power and look, we think she brings an awful lot to the table and is incredibly progressive in her type and kind!

About McDonald Red Angus

WELCOME TO McDONALD RED ANGUS, located in Russell, Iowa. Our love and passion for the Red Angus breed started when we purchased our first bull in 2000 to run with our Simmental cattle. While not officially being established in the breed until 2012, we have actively raised and promoted the Red Angus breed for 17 years.

We run 320 purebred Red Angus cows and 120 commercial cows. Today our main focus is to produce high quality Red Angus cattle that are phenotypically and genotypically desired by cattle producers. McDonald Red Angus is owned by Dwight and Cindy McDonald and managed by Layne Robinson (operations and genetics), Mitchell Schroeder (nutrition and health), and Mallory Early (marketing).

We offer cattle for sale private treaty throughout the year while having an annual bull sale in the spring. We welcome you to stop by the farm anytime to view our cattle.
