Well, that escalated quickly!❄️🌨️We hope everyone is toasty warm this morning! A few of our fearless staff have made it to the clinic to take care of business and Dr. Landers is on her way. Due to the weather, we are going to close early so that our staff can get home safely. Dr. Landers will be at the office tomorrow but we are unsure of the hours at this time. Dr. Landers wanted to share some very important information about Avian influenza and the risks. Right now, cats are showing a very high susceptibility to this virus. Our doctors never recommend a raw diet but during this time, we are strongly advising owners do not feed any form of raw food.
*Raw, raw coated, or freeze-dried raw food and treats have the potential to be contaminated.*
Keeping your cats indoors, limiting their exposure to birds of any kind and avoiding raw diets is the best course of action presently. It is also advised to not wear shoes from outside inside the house, especially if you have been in an area near poultry farms or other areas with large bird populations. We are following this closely and will share any new information as it comes along. If you have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call.

It has been a couple months now since we brought Pet Desk on board and we are really enjoying it! By the amount of people that have downloaded the app already, we can only assume you guys like it as well! If you haven't yet, you can download the app to keep track of your pet's records, make appointments and request medication refills. You can communicate with us quickly without having to pick up the phone and get current updates and reminders sent straight to your phone. We definitely recommend it!!

Unfortunately, there's a lot of misinformation out there about a very serious bacteria known as Leptospirosis, or Lepto. This bacteria can be transferred to people and it is vital, especially in this area, to keep your pets vaccinated against it, even if they don't go outside often. Wildlife like deer and raccoons can carry this bacteria into residential areas, both rural and in town.
