Miranda's journey.....
All dogs coming through our rescue are wonderful but occasionally there are one's who are undeniably angelic. Miranda is one of these dogs. She was well taken care of and very loved not only by her owner who passed but also with animal control and the FOAC volunteers. After a few days at Harmony (we are fostering her), I am surprised she has not been adopted yet. Miranda is well behaved and is friendly with all the dogs. When I walk her, she is gentle on a leash and stays close by if off leash. Miranda is somewhere between 8 and 10; her energy is fun and calming. She is healthy and is currently scheduled for her spay. Do you miss the raffle?
Well, Gleaning For The World (in Concord) is conducting a raffle very similar to what we have done in the past. The best part is that all proceeds go to their Pet Relief program. Many of the rescues in the area have benefited from it and continue to do so. The Pet Relief program also helps the pets who have been devasted by disasters throughout the country.

Tickets are $10 and are available through January 17. 2025. You have daily chances to win that days amount, even if you won previously. Drawings are Feb 1-28, 2025

So, join the fun and support animals! Call 434.993.3900 OR visit James (manages the Pet Relief program) at Sam's Club this Friday Jan 3rd from 10 am - 2 pm.

Happy New Year everyone and to all the critters!
Dusty (aka Pancake) enjoys the plushy blankets on a soft bed as she decides to take a nap or bark at the noise somewhere. Dusty is one of our lifers here recuperating from past illnesses and doing well overall.

Little Girl update:
You would never know that this "Little Girl" is 17! She is quite spunky especially with toys and a game of tug-of-war. Little Girl loves to play goldilocks and claim any chair her own. She favors humans and tolerates the canine mates she knows she has to share space with. Little Girl is currently sponsored. She wishes every one a very happy holiday season.

Ralphie update:
Another year has passed and Ralphie (will be 16 in March) has become more of a favorite among the volunteers. He has learned to trust more, still loves to play with toys outside (the grosser they are the better), and is more tolerant of other dogs. Ralphie enjoys the soft treats only and visitors who dote on him.

Meet Joey! Joey is looking for a new family to love and spoil him. It wouldn't be hard as he loves the attention of humans and would work tirelessly to become your new best buddy. Joey likes other cats but not sure about dogs.

He came to Harmony Rescue after his owners could no longer care for him due to health issues. He is 3-4 years old, has been neutered and is up to date on vaccines.

Raine is still looking for a "chill" family.
All updated on vaccines and spayed, Raine is a very lovable and calm 8-9 yr old hound looking for a family (kids okay) to hang with at home. Raine loves a cushy chair, pupperoni treats, and an occasional spurt of energy. She is super nice with other dogs - big and small. Cats don't seem to bother her at all. Wren (update):
You met her before when we first encountered Wren as a skinny, very tired, stray hound. Flash forward three months - Wren is more on the young side. She lives and loves to run once that nose of hers hits the ground. There doesn't appear to be an obstacle she can't get by. Once she is done with her adventure, Wren is happy to be home to play with toys, play "catch me", and then finally rest. Wren is looking for a home that will give her plenty of love, space to run freely, and play.

Courtesy Post!!! Foster mom wrote the following…London and Furgison are still up for adoption through CVRR! They've been with us since July when they were given up. They're living in the basement with our three unsocial tuxedo cats. All the cats get along SO well! It's precious. London and Furgison would definitely want cat friends in their new home. They're very cat friendly and also very sweet with us. They're just happy and easy Kitts! Anyone would be lucky to have them! If interested apply at cvrrescue.org.

All of us at Harmony are deeply sadden by the passing of Dr. Steph Chmiel this week. She was a very caring veterinarian and a special friend to all of us. Steph's kindness was unparallel to humans and all kinds of animals (including the bugs). No matter what she was going through, she always made time to lend a hand, share knowledge, or just listen. Steph made this world a better place; we are forever grateful for the time we we shared. We know you are at peace and surrounded with favorite people and tons of critters.
