Here’s an update on Kimberly following the house fire:

Kimberly is deeply grateful for your love and support. She feels much more at ease knowing there are funds available to cover unavoidable expenses. She and her family have moved into a rental home. They have removed their remaining belongings from the trailer, which is now deteriorating due to the fire damage and rainy weather. She is actively searching for another trailer home.

On a positive note, her car situation has been resolved, and she now has a working vehicle. Her family and pets are settling into a donated rental property. The generosity of our community is astounding.

UPDATE: Kimberly and her family are deeply touched by the overwhelming love, generosity, and support from their community.

Abel, her almost nine-year-old son, is navigating the confusion and emotions of this loss with remarkable resilience. Please keep him in your prayers as he copes with this challenging time.

In a stroke of good fortune, all their Christmas presents, stored in a bedroom closet, were miraculously spared. The Ruston Fire Department effectively contained the fire using a foam barrier, but unfortunately, the foam caused irreparable damage to the structure.

The family plans to spend the holiday with loved ones, traveling out of town to be surrounded by their extended family’s warmth and support. Please pray for their safe travels and continued comfort.

• Presents for Abel: While their Christmas presents are covered, you can still bring extra cheer to Abel. If you’d like to give a gift, drop it off at the Ruston Animal Clinic. Abel wears 11/12 clothes and size 6 shoes and loves Spider-Man, Nike basketball, soccer, Nerf guns, and Hot Wheels.

UPDATE: the presents and most of their personal belongings are all safe. Because of the rapid response of the RFD the fire was in 1/2 of the house (living room and kitchen). However, due to the extensive damage their home is a complete loss.

It’s difficult to ask for anything material at this point. As she asks for physical items we will reach out.

Everyone (humans and dogs) are okay! The humans were not home and a watchful neighbor got the dogs out and called the fire department right away. The fire started in the ceiling fan in the living room. Although the fire didn’t reach the entire house, the water did! The exact scope of loss has not been determined but please consider everything lost. The BEST way to help is to DONATE.

Remember fireworks can be frightening for pets! Please ensure they stay safe this 4th of July by updating collar,tag and microchip information. Secure your fences and exits. Keep Picnic food out of pets’ reach. Refill anxiety medications, and if possible keep them indoors in a safe and secure space.
