This weekend It’s My Time, 2024 Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover hopeful, attended the Youth Dressage FUNdation & Region 1 Youth Dressage Team Challenge! It was, by far, his biggest outing since leaving the track last fall, his third show and his first overnight venue and I could not be more proud with how he handled himself. With multiple rings, lots to see and take in and a large division of 25 horses he rounded out the weekend with 3rd, 4th and 5th place finishes! Our VADA Fredericksburg Team finished 3rd in our division!
Thank you to everyone that supports us in our journey to the Thoroughbred Makeover, JPB Equestrian LLC for coaching and VADA Fredericksburg for their support of their Junior/Young Riders!

Some of the team headed to the 2024 Region 1 Youth Dressage Team Challenge this weekend. While it was super hot and humid, there was a lot of fun to be had!! All riders put in lovely tests and came home with lots of ribbons and good scores! I’m so proud of everyone!!

Everything comes with a price
A sensitive horse is going to be sensitive to both light aids AND your accidental aids and mistakes
A quiet school horse is going to give you room to fumble with your hands and legs, and they are also likely to ignore them when you mean to use them.
It isn’t fair to want the reward without the price. It isn’t fair to take from a horse without giving- and it all comes down to working on ourselves: our expectations, riding abilities, mindset, and awareness. You can’t have a perfectly performing horse without putting in your own work. A horse is not a computer or a robot- they rise to, or fall to, the level of the horseman.

Ventured to CVSJA today to help Roberta Warren and her Big Redwhiteblue, where she had quite the team! They put down 2 super rounds at a new height and came away all smiles!

This weekend a few of us attended the horse trials at Virginia Horse Center. Olivia Scrag and her Lil Rascal finished 10th in a competitive BN division. Isla Bromilow and Whatinsamhill laid down a beautiful dressage and stadium but unfortunately missed a jump in stadium. Both girls did a fabulous job with their horses all weekend and were such a blast to be around!
Jess and Chaucer finished 3rd in the OBN and 3rd in the Adult Team challenge.

Chaucer is all settled in and ready for the weekend ahead!

Thank you Ema Klugman for enduring the rain and teaching a fantastic clinic. It is not often we get opportunities like this so close to home! The whole team had an amazing time. Lots of lessons learned and things to work on moving forward.
And we can’t forget to thank Wingreen for hosting this clinic on a rainy day!

As talented riders prepare for the Youth Dressage FUNdation & Region 1 Youth Dressage Team Challenge, they could use a little help! Please consider any contribution possible!

Over the weekend, our team took on the competition at the Randolph-Macon College Eventing Team CT. The mustangs did their very first tadpole competition where Devon Rowan on SWC Not My Circus took 1st and Ryan Hill on his SM Out Of Focus took 2nd. Christine Anderson on Fergus took 1st in the intro stadium & Katelynne Gillis and Arriana’s Miracle took 1st in the BN stadium. Isla Bromilow and Whatinsamhell won the novice CT and then tackled their first training stadium round with only a rail. It was a fun show despite cooler temps and rain but we look forward to their next one!
Message Jess to schedule a lesson and join us at the next show!

The team went to one of our favorite local horse shows yesterday, Deep Run Hunt Pony Club HT and what a great day it was! Olivia Schrag and Rascal won the BNJr division, Jackie Kennedy and Drama had a solid dressage and stadium round but an unfortunate mishap on cross country, Jess Bowen and Chaucer won the OBN division & Marley Cummings and DJ won the cross rail CT. The wind was knocking dressage arenas and jumps over all day and the management never skipped a beat! Thank you to the DRHC pony club and all the volunteers that made it such a fun day!

Studio81Designs never disappoints! Some of the horses got new stall signs and they look amazing! Monkey (shown here) has his brand on the top and his HMA in front of his name (which is Salt Wells Creek).

Thank you so much to for sharing this lovely review of your K3 Jump Saddle 💙 Happy one year with your beautiful bespoke K3!
“A whole year of my Albion K3 Jump saddle 🥳. If I’m being totally honest I think this saddle gave me and Boo a second chance. It gave Boo a new lease of life. A fully fitted and made to him saddle has given him the freedom of movement he needed to achieve all of our successes last year - that I gently don’t think would have been possible without this saddle. 🤩
•
Fitted to both me and Boo, the K3 jump is lightweight and built on an adjusta-tree (meaning if Boo changes it can be altered!). The seat is incredibly comfy and the knee block is super supportive. And of course the final touch IT’S BLUE! 💙. We personalised this saddle to have blue stitching and welting and I still pinch myself to this day that this saddle is ours 🤪”

💪
- When my instructor repeats to me: ′′Straighten your shoulders and open your chest!” He’s not just teaching me how to stand up. He's teaching me that in life we should always walk straight and face problems head on.
- When my instructor asks me to lower my legs and keep them close to the horse, he teaches me that in life we do not allow distractions and that little is enough to deviate from his path.
- When my instructor tells me "Too much hand, don't hang on to the reins! "He teaches me to give and not to take, with the greatest respect of others.
- When he yells and repeats endlessly: "Look forward in the direction you want to go!” He teaches me the importance of setting goals and never losing sight of them to achieve them.
- When I ask to move up or do more and my instructor says I'm not ready, he teaches me that in life you must always respect your rhythm and never skip the steps.
- When I fall and get back up, I learn that there are always setbacks, times when we back up, but the important thing is to get up more determined than before.
- If I hold my breath during a ride and he jokingly tells me "breathe! You are purple!” I understand that you have to let your emotions flow in order to get rid of them.
- When at the end of the course I am happy with the work done and my instructor says to me′ ′Well done, thank your teacher′′ I know he is not referring to himself but to my horse.
- Now you, you who are watching a rider pass in the saddle, keep saying that riding is not a sport because it is the horse that does everything. I agree. Horse riding is not a sport. It is a life lesson.
