Bruce Andersons, my friend and mentor, with his Nature's View, Inc., has always taught not to help, but instead help the horses to help themselves by building their mental tools. REIN Rescue has been involved in the relief efforts in Western North Carolina for the last three months. For the last two weeks, I have wrapped more presents for adopted families than I probably ever wrapped in my entire life. So I decided I was tired and it was time to let the Mustangs figure out their own puzzles, especially since I had wrapped a lot of presents involving children, figuring out in solving problems. REIN’s Icon and REIN’s Infinite Hope (Finn) we’re introduced to a tarp yesterday by me, walking around, acting like an idiot in the wind. Needless to say, they thought that was crazy and dangerous but after a while, they figured I was the one who was crazy and it was not such a bad deal. This morning, I decided that they were the children and I had wrapped their present which was their hay, but they had to eat it off a plate made of a tarp. To add a slight degree of difficulty, the tarp was situated at the entrance to 4 foot gate of which Icon is afraid of narrow spaces. We discussed it, and I told him that this was their opportunity to build their mental tools by figuring out how to eat their hay in order to do that they’re gonna have to step on a tarp. I thoroughly enjoyed myself sitting and watching the progress. I thought you might enjoy seeing what we do out here.
To have a little more fun, I decided that we needed contest boys versus girls. The three Mustang yearling girls got a blue tarp with Hay in the center. As we all know, girls are smarter than boys and they proved it within a minute or two all three were on the tarp. Lol.
Animal Communicator Lauren Wingate stopped by last Saturday to see the horses and talk to them. REIN Rescue has been fortunate to have Lauren helping out over the past year with all the feral horses and now the mustangs. Fiona, who’s sponsored by Pagan Lee Gilman and her mom, Betty Strickland, was one of the wildest we’ve had. She’s now a total love bug. To see her last Saturday with Lauren is what we’re all about.
A lot of you were here on the 10th for the lecture with Julia Carpenter, which was outstanding. I’ve been working with Hope everyday since then and yesterday was a turning point, which led to putting on the halter today. I was so proud of her being able to trust and stay calm. She’s going to be quite a nice horse when she grows up.
🎉🦄AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION🦄🎉
“ELLA” is almost 2 years old. She is a Quarter horse / Thoroughbred cross filly. Currently standing 13.2 hands and expected to mature to in the 15 hand range. She is a lovely mover and would have a place in the Hunter ring. However, she is an all around kind of girl and could honestly do well in any career, English or western.
If you are interested in adopting Ella please private message us. We will be glad to send you an application and tell you more about the process/adoption fee. 🙂
