Sheltered Paws and Resource Center Providing animal control assistance to the animals and public of Rutherford County

Our public hours are:
Monday through Friday 10am-4pm

As many of you may or may not know, the Rutherford County Animal Shelter has been passed through a number of hands throughout the years. The shelter's story has had its ups and downs, and as this new chapter unfolds we hope to regain the county's trust and respect in our abilities to save as many of these lives as we can. Great changes are underway and coming soon, so stay tuned!

Our office will be closed from Wednesday, November 27th, through Friday, November 29th, to allow our team to celebrate Thanksgiving with their loved ones. We will reopen on Monday, December 2nd, during regular business hours.

YAY!! THEY ARE HERE!!
In case you missed the previous post…

Best Friends Animal Society is bringing in a mobile unit to offer FREE veterinary services for Rutherford county and surrounding counties that have been affected by the hurricane and have suffered through the devastation this has caused.

The mobile unit will administer vaccines and health exams along with caring for minor medical issues. We encourage the community to come out to get your animals up to date on immunizations, have a health exam, and deal with any minor health concerns you may have.

This will be offered here at our facility on Sunday October 13th, and Monday October 14th. (Friday October 18th has been canceled due to not have a vet available.)

Walk-ins welcome! This will be done on a first come first serve basis, no appointments needed from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

This service will be provided three days a week thru November 15th. Please watch for our weekly schedules. The veterinarians for the first week, are coming all the way from Massachusetts SPCA. How amazing is that?

We still have pet food available to those in need Monday thru Friday 10am to 4pm

Must have proof of an up to date rabies vaccination to be able to receive pet food with a limit of 2 bags per week so that we can help as many people during this time as possible

Introducing our pets of the week. The shelter if open Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. . Please come visit our adoptable cats and dogs. We welcome volunteers and have an application available at the front desk.

Gabriel PS1645511 intake date February 18, 2023 Meet Gabriel our pet of the week. Gabriel is a very sweet, calm and gentle natured fellow. Gabriel enjoys quiet meals alone and naps on his doggie bed. He has atleast one of the shelter staff trained and he gets a morning walk and meal on his own each morning. He came to us with an eye injury. It was very apparent he would need his eye removed. Through the generosity of a very kind animal advocate his eye removal was sponsored . He is truly a “lucky dog” to be loved by so many here at the shelter. Please stop by and meet Gabriel or any of the other extraordinary pets we have here for adoption. I would also like to thank our volunteer Dustin. He has stepped forward to help with videos and photos for our Pet of the Week.

Please stop by the shelter to meet our adoptable dogs. Each one is unique in his or her own way. They are all so deserving of a forever home
