It’s national Black Dog Day! October 1 was designated as National Black Dog Day in 2011, to bring awareness to the “black dog phenomenon”. Black dogs in shelters are very often overlooked, and as a result spend significantly longer waiting for their forever home than their different colored counterparts. If you’re looking to adopt, consider a black dog- Rutland County Humane Society currently has several black pups available!

The leaves are falling in Vermont, as are some of our cat adoption fees!

We have several sweet kitties who have been patiently waiting with us for over a month. Although they can take as much time as they need, these cuties are all packed and ready to spend their cozy fall days snuggled up with their forever families.
The adoption prices are half-off for Midnight, Lester, Ivy, Poppy, Stardust, Mocha, Buttons, Kyle & Darren (bonded pair). Let’s get these cats into their forever homes before the first frost! The adoption discount will run until these cats are happily adopted. So stop by to see them Tuesday-Saturday from 11 am-4 pm.
