Qinder (daughter of Envious) looking badass in protection training today
Look at this beautiful 1 year old. Let me know if you to meet her
All of these dogs have been in either the TR training reactivity classes or the TR boot camp training program for dog reactivity. They are an amazing group of handlers and dogs, behaving calm and dog and human neutral—especially the humans.
TR’s Lulu and her 5 year old human pack mate. Her owner, Megan, has worked hard and well. Love having them in classes.
Oreo pups starting to be playful
Chrris and Oreo pups will be 2 weeks old tomorrow
TR Lulu (Nesta x Chrris) in class tonight with her owner Megan McKenna in a stay and crossing the bridge of temptation at liberty—excellent impulse control and team work.
We would like to recognize Melissa for her dedication to training her TR pup, Rocco. She is determined to give Rocco the best training she can by coming to multiple classes each week to expose Rocco to as much new stimuli that she can, while socializing him to humans and other dogs. We teach humans to teach their dogs to be neutral to their environments. Melissa is dedicated to this principle and it shows in everything she does. And, we would be remiss not to recognize Teegan, who has been coming to dog classes for two years at TR to help teach dogs to accept humans of all ages and sizes.
TR’s Sierra being an excellent girl during her sit stay under distraction in class at Cabela’s on Tuesday night. Are you practicing public stays with your GSD?
Oreo is the proud mommy of 3 little babies
TR’s Rocco performing a stay meet and greet with Teegan in class last night.
In this clip, I am teaching Xanni to back-up in heel position using my hand and arm as a guide (modeling), the goal being that she learn to accept being touched around her sides and hindend. I am giving her a lot of positive reinforcement while pushing her threshold for being touched. All dogs need to learn to accept touch by their owners as well as by veterinarians and strangers. This is required in all temperament tests and AKC tests. Xanni, up to her current home of several weeks, called all the shots with no consequence for growling, snapping, and biting if people other than a select few, and sometimes even them, touched her body or head or even approached her while she was laying down. She also resource guards food (including treats, toys, her bed, and her person) with a similar response to being touched. For this reason, I am using high value reward to push her threshold so I can correct the behavior. As you can see Xanni is exercising impulse control, being respectful, and learning to have fun.
