Hello Everyone!

I know it has been quite some time since I posted, and many of you have already been experiencing how difficult it can be more often than not to get in contact. It has been a rough couple of months and I am so grateful for your continued patience and for every moment I get to spend with your dogs. Last month we almost had to close down for an extended period of time because of unexpected heat and humidity issues in the salon. Thankfully the majority of those issues are now under control.

As a new development, my little family of my 3 pets, my boyfriend and myself are about to lose our home due to our landlord deciding to sell. We were given 30 day notice, but with our full work schedules, my responsibilities growing and caring for the salon top to bottom and the fact that the rental market is currently scary and difficult, we’ve been feeling faceless and anxious in a sea of so many people probably feeling the same, trying desperately to find a roof for our heads. It’s been a struggle just to get responses from listings and receive a moment, a chance to sell ourselves and try to stand out.

If I’m taking long to respond to your inquiry, or answer current client calls and questions, please know I am catching up on my ever growing list as fast as I can. It doesn’t mean I expect you all to wait on me, but I do need you to know I care about you deeply. It’s going to be hard to schedule for the rest of June. If you feel it’s been too long since you’ve heard back, the biggest, most kind favor you could do for me is to call again, call more or visit in person. The second greatest thing that would help us is for our current regulars to pre-book as far out as is comfortable. Not only are we booking out further in general because of the community's support, love, referrals and recommendations, but I also need time reserved here and there to apartment hunt this month and ensure my pets and myself don’t become homeless for any period of time. We only have until July 8th. I am also looking for part-time help for catching up with calls and requests. I feel I have to be vulnerable for a moment and admit that I am having a very hard time keeping up with everything and I am overwhelmed. Where I’m most confident, is knowing that I love you all and promise I will solve this and be back in action and better than ever very soon.

Look at these beautiful babies. Their mum has been with me from the beginning of my journey and the way she entrusts me with their care, as all of you do with your pups as well, makes me feel like the luckiest gal out there. These sweethearts were amazing, as usual, and we gave Cuya, a bernadoodle puppy, her first ever haircut. She’s a wonderful puppy and we loooove to keep her hair long and flowing. She’s so brave and I was endlessly proud of her.

It is so important to allow puppies to get used to grooming in their own time so we can set them up for a lifetime of success. Here at Happy Feet, your puppies’ mental wellbeing is first and foremost in our mind. We will always personalize their journey to their first haircut because nothing is better than watching a puppy discover that grooming is safe, feels great and that their groomer loves them and wants to be an integral part of their life! A new friend, Gabby! She was in for a bath service with nail care and teeth brushing. An absolute angel. It was her first time meeting me and her trusting nature melted my heart.

Miss Josie from back when I was first getting things started at the new salon! Peek at sweet napping Zuri, her sister, in the background about to have her turn in the tub! So cute and patient. Josie’s coat loved our premium shampoos and conditioners and she came out shining and luxurious. They both come in for baths with deshedding, nails and feet tidying.

I’ve been looking forward to sharing this cute transformation!

This is Rocky and he is a toy poodle. I have been fortunate enough to be Rocky’s groomer ever since his very first groom as a puppy. There’s a stark difference between his first look, in the first dated photo, and his most recent groom with me.

There are many important factors that affect this difference. The first and foremost is age and experience. When our dogs are puppies, our expectations need to be gentle and malleable. They are exposed to new sounds, feelings and smells all away from home and the people they know best. As you can see, Rocky felt safest laying down on the table and taking some naps during his first time. That meant I worked around him and what he wanted, not the other way around. I needed him to know that it was safe to be with me and that if he wasn’t comfortable, we would move on to something else. Rocky’s parents trusted that I was doing the best I could and that their patience would set him up to blossom in the future as he got used to grooming in his own time.

Eventually, as my relationship with Rocky developed, my skills developed and his parents vision of his ‘style’ did too, look where we’ve ended up! He is now one of the easiest dogs I give haircuts to - and he’s too cute to handle!

Hello everyone! Hope you and your sweet fur babies have been safe and warm these past few days. I’m thinking of you all. We are still without power here at the salon. I’m still without power in my home as well but thankfully a loved one nearby has opened up their space to myself and my crew of animals so we can stay warm.

For those who have appointments this week - I’m feeling optimistic and know CMP is working hard to get things restored. If power is still an issue, you will be sure to hear from me in the morning on the day of your appointment and I will get you rescheduled as timely as possible. Thank you!
