We had to take a minute for ourselves recently. We apologize for being quiet. But Fig was quiet. Don’t get us wrong, you always knew where he was. For a small guy with a smooshy head that slept 23 1/2 hours a day, Vintage Land was his kingdom. For over 2 years he was constantly underfoot. Claiming the best napping spots, claiming our bath towels when we showered, claiming the warmest sunbeams. He was Lemon’s first love and he bore a shocking resemblance to an angler fish (said with love - you should see mom Laurel’s memorial tattoo). He had big paws, a big head, and a giant heart. You were never going to hear him make a peep unless it was one of his patented, world-weary sighs when his 4th meal of the day ran behind. Those gorgeous deep wrinkles required intense cleaning and he put on a wonderful act twice a day that he hated it - but his strut around after being polished and the smile he wore when rooting in a bed to mess up our hard work told the truth. Fig was funny. Fig was opinionated. Fig was loving. He was our Benjamin Button and we truly never thought about a day where we’d say goodbye until it was upon us and we were suddenly overcome with grief we hadn’t expected. Thank you for bearing with us when we are quiet. Thank you for the love and support that let us give Fig almost 19 years in our world. Thank you for the donations that helped us provide him incredible care and a peaceful transition over the rainbow bridge. Thank you for loving to these dogs like we do. We miss Fig - thank you for sharing the burden of his loss with us ❤️❤️❤️
Please enjoy the progression of Dot’s face as we explained/translated what her dogtor said about glucose monitors and insulin injections. 😂😂😂 Jk all she heard was high protein food and more treats for tolerating her shots (which she’s already a pro at in less than 24 hours). Now mom Melissa’s face while trying to get a glucose monitor on a 9lb skeleton is another matter….
Now that she sprung from the shelter - she’s looking for Vintage Land!! Thank you for everyone who has donated to our fundraiser already. This precious gal is making her way to us. Our vets are ready for her, her decompression area is set up to help her relax after the big changes that come with a shelter and transport. And we’ve updated our Amazon and Chewy wishlists to reflect a lot of the supplies we have been low on lately (including our various foods for everyone’s special needs and challenges) and flea and tick meds for all these crusty shelter dogs that bring us hitchhiking critters 🤮
We have to spam you with another Raisin update: look at this glorious angel and her family. Her forever family!!! Never again to be abandoned, unwanted, alone, on the streets, in a shelter, uncertain about her next meal. Instead she’s the princess - protected by her brothers, adored by her parents. A life of literal sunshine, kisses, snuggles and safety. This is why we rescue. It can be exhausting, stressful, expensive, and overwhelming - but we wake up every single day ready for more as long as innocent babies like Raisin need help finding their forever ❤️
We’re pretty sure Norman has at least caught on to the happy vibe in Vintage Land knowing he might meet his forever family this weekend 🥰
Norman was dumped in a high-kill LA shelter in bad shape. We’ve spent the last few months taking care of his medical needs and getting him healthy.
He’s a perfect older gentleman who didn’t deserve to be abandoned. Now in our rescue he’s had two adopters back out (at no fault of his own).
He is now healthy, full of love and hope, and just waiting for someone to give him a chance like we did. If you’re in driving distance of Sacramento, CA and want to meet your new best friend PLEASE fill out an application at vintagepugs.com or via the link in our bio.
Let’s get Norman a home of his own!
📍Sacramento, CA
⭐️ 8 year old male
🩹 fully vetted and ready to go
🐾 very sweet temperament
💛 lots of love to give
Our adorable Norman is on his way to the vet - today’s his big day!!! He’ll get neutered but also have a thorough exam of his ears, radiographs to tell us how to best help him with his mobility, and an evaluation of his special eye. Keep your paws crossed for a successful day for sweet Normie, this precious guy is just about ready for his forever home ❤️❤️❤️
Norman got another fluff n fold after his most recent vet visit (to prep him for surgery on Thursday). This little man is doing amazing 🥳🥳🥳
Sound up to play a guessing game: what is Raisin expressing her feelings about?
A) no breakfast!! 😱 B) heading to the vet for surgery ❤️🩹 C) no applications to adopt her yet 😭 Wish this amazing Senior well - and if you are looking for a sweet 13 year old who can see, hear, walk on leash and complain about things that displease her (I mean…no one likes a missed breakfast) apply on our website ❤️❤️❤️
Our Easter Peep got to come home this morning! She was a staff favorite and when she wasn’t interested in food after day 2 they went out and bought her baby food and chicken 😭 So kind.
Thank you @vistaveterinaryhospital for taking such good care of this deserving little lady.
There will be a bit of recovery and down time for Peeps, but she’s so young and resilient that vets aren’t worried about her long term prognosis.
We will be paying this emergency expense off for a while, so if you’re able to help and continue to support our mission of taking the most needy we would super appreciate it.
We’ve also seen some comments about how expensive her treatment was. And while that’s certainly true, keep in mind it was an emergency procedure at a specialist 24 hour clinic. We were forced into that situation because her injury was neglected for several days. The vet staff were beyond exceptional and while it was very costly, it was a situation that could have unfolded different if action was taken immediately. We aren’t placing blame anywhere, that’s not our objective, just stating the facts as they happened.
That’s what we are here for and we are beyond happy to give forgotten pugs a second chance. Thank you all 🖤
