Paws N’ Play is gathering unique scent items to create exciting sniffing experiences for our dogs. Dogs explore the world through their noses, and these items will provide mental stimulation and enrichment!

We’re looking for:
• 🌲 Pinecones
• 🍂 Dried leaves
• 🌳 Tree bark pieces
• 🌟 Smooth, pretty rocks (unique textures and shapes make it extra fun!)
• 👜 Old wallets or purses (the more heavily used, the better!)
• 🧤 Garden gloves (with all those interesting outdoor scents!)
• 📚 Heavily used magazines (well-loved pages hold all kinds of intriguing smells!)
• 🌿 Scented nature finds from different areas, like bundles of grass or herbs
• 🎾 Old tennis balls
• ⚽ Old soccer balls
• 🏀 Old basketballs (they don’t need to be in working condition—just full of cool smells!)
• Old stuff animals
•Old kids shoes (small is better for hiding)

All items should be safe, free of harmful chemicals, and dog-friendly. These treasures will make sniffing adventures extra special for our pups!

Support a Young Local Entrepreneur!

Join us this Sunday at Paws N’ Play to support Sami, an ambitious 8th grader from Miwok Middle School, who’s raising funds for an educational trip to Washington DC and New York City! Sami will be selling delicious See’s chocolates—dark, milk, and vanilla pops—plus taking pre-orders for holiday gift boxes.

This is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a chance to show our support for a young community member working towards his dreams! Even if you don’t love chocolate, stop by to encourage Sami. Let’s help him build confidence, learn to speak passionately about his goals, and show what our River Park community is all about.

Come by, say hi, and be part of a brighter future for our local kids!

📸 Santa Photos Event! 🎅🐾

Join us for Santa photos on November 23 from 1 PM to 3 PM! No sign-up needed, but if you’d like to stay updated, we’re gathering contact info for those interested in event news and future activities.

We’re excited to share that we’ll have a very special Santa this year! Our Santa will look just like the classic Santa Claus—but will actually be a female dog trainer. This Santa is skilled in dog body language and experienced with shy and reactive dogs, which can be especially helpful for pups who may be sensitive to the presence of men.

Plus, one of our favorite photographers, , will be capturing these memorable moments!

Here’s what to know for your visit:

• Reactive Dogs: Reactive dogs will have a private entrance to make the experience stress-free. We recommend having someone check in on your behalf while you and your dog wait in the vehicle; we’ll contact you when it’s your turn.
• Shy Dogs: We suggest that shy dogs stop by before November 23 for a free 10-15 minute play session to get comfortable with the space and the Santa suit. Santa will be in regular clothes during these visits, making it easier for your dog to adjust.

We’re looking forward to a joyful photo day with you and your pups! 📸 🎄

In the wild, canines often had to eat quickly to avoid losing their meal to other animals or putting themselves in danger. By swallowing food in chunks, they could eat faster and stay safe. Even though our pets are now safe at home, these ancient instincts still influence how they eat! 🦴🐾

An 11-year-old boy in North Carolina named Jamie Parker got buried in rubble when a mudslide hit his grandparents' house during Hurricane Helene. But he's okay after his family's dog found him.

His name is Tucker. He stood where Jamie was and wouldn't budge until firefighters got there and used chainsaws to get him out.

Jamie and his sister used their allowance three years ago to save Tucker when he was about to be put down at a shelter. So it's almost like he wanted to return the favor. (Here's a photo.)
