Help Bradshaw Animal Shelter empty the shelter. Add a four-legged new family member to your home with NO FEES to adopt!

Beginning Sunday, October 1st, through Sunday, October 15th, adoption fees for dogs and cats at Bradshaw Animal Shelter will be sponsored by the BISSELL Pets Foundation for the Empty the Shelters adoption event.

You provide the loving forever home, we'll take care of the rest: your new pet's adoption will include their spay/neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccines, microchipping, and a 1-year license for Sacramento County residents, all for no fees. Bradshaw Animal Shelter is located at 3839 Bradshaw Road in Sacramento and open to the public Tuesday-Sunday from 12-5pm with extended hours on Wednesdays from 12-6pm. The shelter is closed on Mondays. The adoption process is first come, first served, so please arrive early if you fall in love 💗 with a particular pet.

Maui Relief 🌺

Our hearts 💗 continue to be with the people of Maui following the tragic wildfires on the island. We know that their Aloha spirit is strong, but that they also need help and prayers to get through the coming days, so we want you to know how we are supporting.

Both VCA Charities and the Banfield Foundation have given grants to Maui Humane to assist in the rescue and recovery efforts. We have a close partnership with MHS and they will continue to share their needs and how we can help.

We have also assisted with the relocation of healthy adoptable animals to the mainland in order to create needed space in their facilities. Two of our Oahu based veterinarians spent time on Maui this weekend helping and advising the MHS team and they stand ready to return when they are needed.
We are proud that LA County Fire Department's CA Task Force 2 (CA-TF2) Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team - who is supported by VCA - was activated and deployed to the island to assist in the ongoing recovery efforts. Firefighter Paramedic Ruiz and K9 Officer Harper, who many of our associates met at our national meeting, is part of that deployment.

Embodying the spirit of Hawaii and VCA, we’re united by our shared desire to make a positive impact. Here’s how you can help:

Wildfire Safety 🔥
Wildfires often occur with little notice, which can make preparation a challenge. If you live in a wildfire-prone area, it’s important to create a safety plan for the two-legged and four-legged members of your family. You may only have minimal advance notice about evacuations, so planning in advance could be the difference between a successful evacuation and leaving necessary items behind.

Rescue a Hero - Woody & Roger

• RESCUE A HERO • We still have two kitties looking for forever homes. They have retired from our blood donor program after two years of saving the lives of other pets. Watch the video to meet Woody and Roger! They have become a bonded pair, so we would LOVE, if possible, for them to be adopted together.

Woody, one of our blood donor cats, went to his forever home! By the looks and sounds of this video, we can tell he is very happy! 😻❤️ One of our cats still needs a home! 😽
