Sometimes, very rarely, a groom doesn’t get finished. This is always, no exception, for the safety of the dog and myself as the groomer. Ghost here is the sweetest snuggler. He wants nothing more than kisses and a lap to sit on. However, he is terrified of grooming tools around his muzzle. This includes brushes! He bites at the tools, which are often metal and sharp. He aims for hands as well. We groomers have many tools to protect our hands from snaps, but we can’t always protect the pups past a certain point. I couldn’t let sweet Ghost bite shears or brush bristles or we’d be risking some severe injuries, so he went home with mats on his nose and chin. When a situation like that occurs, I will do my best to complete as much as I can before I send the pup home. The goal is to remove as much matting as I can so I don’t leave any dogs with painful pulling. If I can get a dog to a place where they can be maintained safely at home, I will never fire a dog from my salon. I am too stubborn and I love my clients far too much. If I say a dog needs to be sedated and have a vet groom service, you’ll know I mean it and that is what would be safest for you dog. I gladly accept my role as the Sacramento groomer that takes in the dogs who are banned from other salons! They did their best with the tools and training they have, so this is not an “I’m better cuz I keep trying” post. It’s just a little PSA that I am not afraid of your dog and you have nothing to apologize for if we have a tough time! I trust my skills and I trust that my clients will be gracious that we can work with each others boundaries. And I’m always willing to try and try again. 🥰

Shedding season is back upon us! As the weather changes, so will your pup’s double coat. You might notice a fine dusting of fur that your vacuum is struggling against or even massive chunks of undercoat just dropping out randomly. That’s when it’s time to text me! Lol With regular deshedding treatments, you can enjoy up to six weeks of reduced shedding!

Tux is my largest client, as well as my client with the most hair! I measured and his body length gets up to 10 inches long! I don’t cut anything but his face, feet, and sanitary areas. I’m so lucky his mom brushes him so much, or else he wouldn’t be able to stay this luscious!
