Read on to learn more about Ace and Scarlett’s play date walks!Scarlett loves playing with her human friends and has a history of playing with some other small dogs but is scared of bigger dogs. She wants to play but then immediately runs away when bigger dogs start running towards her or initiate play.Ace loves playing with other dogs and his people in 1-1 sessions but can get nervous and fearful around other dogs in close proximity. He’s still figuring out how he feels about other dogs and how to navigate social interactions post attack.Ace and Scarlett showed interest in each other in their first session and had a couple of greetings but were both still a bit unsure about each other. In their second session together, they were both much more comfortable being closer to each other right from the start! They started having more conversations about play while also learning to respect each other’s boundaries.🎉 Ace and Scarlett’s social skills have significantly improved over these last couple of sessions. 🎉Scarlett showed signs of feeling a bit conflicted about playing but was much more comfortable investigating Ace and co-existing at a closer distance. Despite their fearful learning history around other dogs, these sessions have shown to really leave both dogs and their people feeling excited about making doggy friends. 🐾We can’t wait for more session with Ace and Scarlett! Happy Easter! 🐣We celebrated Easter with a little Easter egg hunt for Ace on our patio! This fun, easy, and cheap activity can be done inside your house, in a small yard, or any other place you can think of. As a reactive apartment dog, sometimes it takes some creativity to give Ace the fun outlets other dogs have easier access to but that won’t stop us from participating in festive activities! 🥳I got a small pack of medium sized eggs from dollar tree to make sure Ace wouldn’t accidentally swallow and choke on them and hid them around our apartment and on our patio. Ace was a bit unsure of what to do with the eggs at first but with some encouragement, was able to figure out how to crack them open! Come with us on a Happy Visit! 🐶Happy Visits are a way for you and your dog to come visit the vet’s office without getting poked and prodded. As a Certified Fear Free Practice, Sactown Vet invites their clients to stop in for Happy Visits to help pets build positive relationships with the staff and the environment. Happy Visits are a great way to start redefining your pet’s relationship with veterinary settings by giving them opportunities to have positive experiences in places where they may traditionally be nervous or scared. To prepare Ace for the transition to this new vet, we took Ace on a Happy Visit! Ace was super excited to sniff out all the new scents and get to know this new to him setting! He found the kids toy bin and tried to steal all the stuffies before politely greeting the CSR staff and moving on in his exploration. He got some treats from the staff up front before doing some tricks to get him comfortable working in this new environment.
