π Miss Chicken! π
As the temperature creeped up, we took advantage of the air conditioning indoors and did some nail trims! Chicken did her first longer duration place stay while everyone got their turns. Little baby steps, but she's learning to settle and stay put until it's time to go play again!

πΎπ€ Luna π€πΎ
Luna has a habit of sliding behind me and coming up on my right side when we turn right. This is common for dogs, more common for adolescent pups who don't know where their body is.
Today we set up an x pen to help me teach her to seek out the left side when I turn right! The barrier helps guide her to the correct answer.
You can see by the end I change the pen shape and she still gets it right. These little pieces are what keeps training together! Take a piece you struggle with, get creative and teach them what you're looking for.

πβTHIS MAY BE THE MOST IMPORTANT VIDEO I EVER POSTβπ
I have talked frequently with many of you about the importance of having some focus when you come out of the car (or house, or wherever you're exiting) at the beginning of your walk. IT IS CRITICAL!
This video shows me walking Cat through the process. I think it will help everyone get a sense of what I'm looking for as far as engagement.
π Focus
π Calm body language
π Solid sit position
π Tuning in the ears
Notice there is not a LOT of verbal except marking and rewarding. The leash is doing the work to keep the dog in the position.
Also a good breakdown of why he's breaking his sit. Fixing that helped him realize he was supposed to be tuning in toward the end.
This process can take 30 seconds, 5 minutes or could be your ENTIRE training session if you never get a calm, engaged dog.
DO IT.
DO IT AGAIN.
DO IT EVERY TIME YOU START YOUR SESSION!!!!
Love you all. Please do this π€
A breakdown of nail trims!!

πΎ The Whole Crew!! πΎ
The crew is all together in sync and our morning sessions are getting more eventful!! It is awesome to have so many alumni pups around to make these mornings productive, while keeping things fun and moving.
π
I also don't own the rights to any of the music... I just enjoy my Pandora stations while training π

πΎπ€ Nacho and Woody π€πΎ
Nacho and Woody did their group session while Sparkle and I worked on some agility stuff! This is the first step in distractions with e-collar stim for them. They can see me move, hear me give feedback to the other dog and still have to process the information isn't for them and they're still doing things!
They're both progressing well!! Keep it up kids!!

πΎπ€ Jameson!! π€πΎ
Our goal today with Jameson, along with socialization in a safe, clean environment for a puppy, was some focus on distracting situations.
I started with him and some luring exercises in this video to get him working on some basics, then handed him over to Cat to continue working while I helped a potential client through some quick handling tips. We kept it short and sweet, and right after allowed him some freedom to explore again and re-claim his beloved tug!!
Good work Jameson!!

Quick snippet from our early AM session. Jameson is learning cues for place and how to stay on the thing & Buddy is working on his low level e-collar foundation.

πΎπ€ Ruby's Last Field Trip! π€πΎ
Ruby and I took a drive to meet @pawsinprogress and some of her clients for one final outing. She was a very good girl and said goodbye to everyone as they left!
Ruby girl will go home in the morning and I'm excited for her to go back to her family and show them all of her new manner.

π§° Field trip to @homedepot!! π©βπ§
Guess what humans have to do sometimes? Errands! Home Depot is of course one of the more well known places to take your pup. It however comes with A LOT more environmental stimuli than lots of other places, and the stimulus can be distracting or downright scary.
Ruby and I worked on her place command using a doormat while the nice workers measured out some turf for the super secret summer project I'm working on.
π¨ She nailed it! π¨ Toward the end a cart snuck up on her from behind and was alarming. So we set her up again and practiced that the cart won't eat you. Other than that she watched and became familiar with the hustle and bustle of a day in HD.
Good job Miss Rubes!!
πΎπ€πΎπ€πΎπ€πΎ
Ruby supervised my weed pulling and worked on waiting on place nicely while Door Dash dropped off my groceries. Then we heeled nicely to the gate and held a down while I got them!
It's the little things in daily life! Dogs get structured play time, group sessions and one-on-one sessions like these daily. They help me identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as give them practice for day-to-day life when they return home!
