On Wednesday, April 17th, we had the pleasure and honor of having Selina Valenzuela (Constituent Advocate for So AZ Engagement Dept) and Arizpe Ellinwod (So AZ Community Relations Coordinator) from the Governor's office. visit and tour our Pantry and Farm. For two hours, we shared our vision and passion for ONF&P. The entire staff and our President of our Board Dick Spining and Vice President Jerri Lukans we on hand to share information. Fantastic weather for their visit.
Thank you again, Selina and Arizpe, for taking time out of your busy schedule to come to Safford and spend some time at ONF&P.

Unfortunately, for almost 1 million people in our state, that isn't always their reality.

Arizona Food Insecurity Facts:

- 293,950 are children
- 159,300 are seniors over 60

Here in Graham County, 25% of our children are food insecure.

Today is AZ Gives Day. The donation you make makes a significant difference in our food pantry, enabling us to feed many of our neighbors who are struggling financially.

Instead of Starbucks, your Favorite restaurant, or a special morning treat, would you consider giving your breakfast up for one of your neighbors?

There is a serious need for volunteers. We need help in our garden, planting, watering, w**d eradication, harvesting, worm beds, composting, and working in the dirt Monday through Friday, 8- 4 p.m. The weather is great for being outside, and we really can use the help.

Another variety we've been busy rescuing this week, we'll definitely have some Italian squash for you this Saturday March 1st. We have a few other varieties as well, we'll post some pictures of them here soon.

If you are new to our program, our nonprofit rescues 20-30 million pounds of produce each year. This is produce that is unable to be sold to stores because it's too ugly, too ripe or maybe there is just too much of something on the market. This produce is normally thrown away in our Arizona landfills. To prevent that, our nonprofit rescues the produce and finds another purpose for it.

If you are in Arizona, you can come out to one of our Saturday distribution events and we'll give you an up to 70lb box with a mixed variety of produce. We ask for a min $15 donation at these events, with your donation helping us with our operations. Every $15 donation you make helps us prevent about 300lbs of food waste. Win Win for everyone!!

This Saturday we will have events in Phoenix, Buckeye, Glendale, Tucson, Willcox and Thatcher. Events are open from 8:00am - 11:00am:

It is getting to be spring time and I know that most people are way better about spring cleaning than I am! If you are going through your cabinets and getting rid of old towel, we will take them off your hands.

We go through a lot of towels for obvious reasons and we are running low. The most useful are the bath towels and beach towels. Currently we do not have any use for hand towels or wash clothes but if we have to take those we will just to get the bigger towels.

We could also use blankets and sheets. We do not have use for comforters although if you want us to take those we can send them to the reservation where they will be of much use.

Thank you for helping us to help the animals that need all of us to make their lives better!
