Blessing Of The Dogs Of Summer
Lord of all Creation,
Bless this, the longest of days, and Your critters who will bask in its beauty and brightness. As we celebrate the birth of this golden season, we ask that You look with favor upon the dogs of summer.
We pray for glorious sunny days, and ample nourishing rain. But we also pray that whatever else the season may bring; heat waves, drought, storms and floods, that You will protect them in all their various circumstances… be they couch potatoes, explorers, renegades, escapees, helpless, hopeless or misunderstood.
For the dogs of summer, we call upon You to watch over them near busy roads and any and all dangerous situations. Our hope is that they learn to be unaffected, but until that time, comforted during the sounds of thunder and fireworks.
We thank You for gifting us with these clever creatures. Throughout this gracious season, we petition You to shield them from unkind words and actions. Therefore, we solicit You to impart on us wisdom in caring for them in all ways.
We ask that the paths they run be lush and fragrant, and the lakes and streams be cool and refreshing. May the traces of muddy paws on clean floors, and nose smudges on pristine panes be overlooked, for it was humans who invited these wildabouts to share their homes.
So, may the guardians of these dogs remember to cover them with prayer and love, and regard them as precious and purposeful members of their families throughout all the seasons of their lives.
And in this golden season of the longest days of light, and ebony, star-filled nights, may the dogs of summer thrive beyond the dreams of their wild little hearts. Amen.(Woof). ~js seal
