The season of giving is here, and we’re asking for your help! ❤️ At Animal Alley, we see the incredible work local rescues do—feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, healing the sick, rescuing the abused, and giving every animal the chance they deserve. Below is how you can help AND be entered to win a great prize: 🎁

🦴🥧 Holiday Feasts Can Be Risky for Dogs! 🐾💛

Avoid the Vet ER this holiday. It’s tempting to share those delicious leftovers—but rich, fatty foods like turkey skin, gravy, or buttery sides can trigger pancreatitis in dogs. This painful and potentially serious condition causes inflammation of the pancreas and can lead to vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain.

👉 Keep your pup safe:

- Skip sharing table scraps
- Secure the trash and food prep areas
- Offer pet-safe treats instead

If your dog seems lethargic, is vomiting, or refuses food after a big holiday meal, contact an emergency veterinarian right away. Keep the holidays happy (and healthy) for the whole family! 💙🐶

🦃⛄The holidays can be stressful for our pets. We’re sharing a few simple ideas so you can plan ahead to help your furry family members stay calm and comfy during the season:

🕒 Stick to their routine for walks, meals, and cuddle time—predictability = comfort.
💖 Sneak in some extra affection even when you’re busy decorating or entertaining.
🐕 Prioritize exercise—a tired pet is a relaxed pet, especially during busy days.
🏡 Create a quiet zone where your pet can retreat when the noise or guests get too much.
🎲 Provide new toys or puzzles to keep them entertained while you’re festive and focused.
🗓️ Consider daycare or a sitter if your schedule is packed or your home is noisy—it helps reduce their stress AND yours.

A little thoughtful planning goes a long way in making this joyful season comfortable for the whole team—two-legged and four-legged!

🇺🇸🐾 Honoring Our Heroes 🐾🇺🇸

Today, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who have served and sacrificed for our country. Your courage and dedication inspire us every day. Thank you for your service—and for protecting the freedoms we hold dear. ❤️💙

Canine heroes to celebrate are Mercy dogs--part of history you don't usually hear about. According to Wikipedia, they served in a paramedical role in the military, most notably during World War I. They were often sent out after large battles to seek out wounded soldiers. They carried first-aid supplies that could then be used by wounded soldiers, and comforted dying soldiers who were mortally wounded.

As many as 20,000 dogs are estimated to have served as mercy dogs during World War I and World War II, and are credited with saving thousands of lives.
