Tonight is the night for booms and bangs! Prepare your pet to keep them safe and help to reduce their anxiety.

New Year's Eve is a scary night for pets! Fireworks can be a nightmare since your pets don't understand what's happening.

Here are tips for keeping your pets safe and reducing their anxiety this New Year's Eve:

* Update chip or tag info now so lost pets can be returned.
* Talk to your veterinarian about a calming pill or medication.
* Speak in a calm voice so your pet doesn't think you're concerned.
* Use a soundproof headset or play soothing sounds to block noise.
* Keep pets indoors in a safe room or cage.
* Close all curtains and windows to reduce noises from outside.
* Tire pets out with exercise, like walks or playtime, earlier in the day.
* Provide pets with enrichment activities, like a frozen lick mat with treats.
