Weāve planned a challenging but doable timed strength/cardio circuit compromised of a sled pull, sled push, & a farmers carry. Participants can also scale down the weight to compete without the heavy weights!
Participants will get a t-shirt and winners will get something special. We will have sponsors & adoptable dogs on site! We are planning on having 9 month old Marley, 3 year old Cinder, and 1 year old Sadie Mae with us at the event!

Meet Marley!
Marley is a 9 month old boxer/terrier mix who come to us last week. Marley was a rescue, who a Good Samaritan took in for a few months. She came to them in terrible condition and they nursed her back to health.
Marley is very affectionate and energetic. She loves to play and loves people of all ages. However, she is working on learning not to jump on people, she hasnāt had a lot of training but sheās smart and catching on quickly.
Marley is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and ready for adoption. She is house broke

Yesterday was Pepperās turn for a day out of the shelter! While she loved the car ride and the extra attention, she is a true potato at heart š
What can we sayā¦ the girl loves her climate-controlled atmosphere and hanginā on a couch lol A couple of times she just stopped and flopped down in protest of the cardio š
Pepper would do great in a home that isnāt terribly active where she can have a fenced in yard to meander about at her leisure.
Pepper has been with us since August 2018 when we pulled her from the euthanasia list of a high-kill facility. She is a 7 year old spayed pocket pittie. She is such a silly, happy girl! She gives the best hugs, she will do ANYthing for a good belly rub or snack, and sheās fully potty trained.
Pepper would prefer to be an only pet to a household without small kiddos just because their unpredictable movements make her nervous.

Meet Clyde, Grandpa, and Herman!!!
Clyde, Grandpa, and Herman came to us from the Kankakee County Animal Control and we are guessing they are shepherd/cattle dog mixes. They were found as strays and thankfully they were found before something happened to them.
These three are all boys and they are just the cutest and sweetest puppies and they are just about ready for adoption. These puppies are almost 8 weeks old!

Lightening & Mouse
These kittens are currently living in a foster home. These kittens had a rough start to life but luckily one of our wonderful fosters jumped in and scooped them up. These kittens were bottle fed and we are so happy to report they are healthy and ready for adoption!!
Lightening has an orange flash across Her forehead. Sheās very active and is not to find of being held yet, but she is full of personality and loves attention. Lightening is very long and sleek - she is going to be a lovely cat.
Mouse is the foster favorite She was the runt of the litter. She actually couldnāt walk for about three weeks. She has not slowed down since she got better. And as you can see Mouse will thrive in a home with a dog friend!
We are so thankful for our wonderful foster who helped these kittens thrive!

Cat fosters- we need you now more than ever. We have literally nowhere for these friends to be housed at the shelter, yet given the packaging they came in, we could not send them away. ā ļøš¶ļø Warning- use of slightly spicy language, do not watch on full blast while youāre at the Applebeeāsš¶ļøā ļø Saturday, June 10. We were short staffed, with only our assistant director & director working through the afternoon routine. After switching a group of dogs from inside to outside, and Vice versa, we stepped up front to put something away when we heard a new pitch of barking. Said barking was not from an area where a dog should be, but at the front door. The following video is our discovery. *Hi friends! This is Jordan, KCHFās director. Please excuse my language (although bleeped-ish) in the accompanying video. I, and Kchf, have NO negative feelings about the dogs that were left, but more so in the manner that they were left. Leaving a dog/dogs in a crate outside of a facility that is struggling with kennel space, several intense medical cases, shift coverage, and most importantly keeping a balance that our team can appropriately take care of has a massive ripple effect on our entire shelter. Our care team puts in more work that many friends could only imagine. My language may not be everyoneās cup of tea, however rescue is real. Finding abandoned dogs at the door amongst chaos is a surprise, every single time. Please join me in welcoming Chuck & Larry. They are settled and will be looking for their new families very soon!
