Heads up everyone !!!

With limited dates of availability between now and our November to reschedule our October show, we’ve elected to combine the two which is going to make for a REALLY good time come!!

Here’s what you can expect Nov. 22nd-24th:

🎃 Costume Contests on Friday night courtesy of New Heights Equestrian and Lee Cesery
🏅Serenity Farm Hunter Jumpers Hunt Teams on Saturday
👻 Rokstarr Gambler’s Choice thanks to Elizabeth Howel under the lights Saturday evening
🏅 HaddenLoch Jump Teams on Sunday

We will still be hosting our stall decorating contest as well as our Exhibitor’s Party on Saturday night! We may be late to the party but we aren’t going to miss a chance to enjoy the festivities we were all looking forward to and no one is going to judge us doing the Monster Mash in November.

Best part about it?! This show will be DOUBLE POINTED and will benefit the ADAPT (Asst. Dog and Pony Therapy) Program at Nemours!!

Storm has passed and we are all safe over here! Lots of water and a couple stalls are flooded but horses are safe and happy eating their breakfast which is the most important 💗
Don’t worry I took her out as soon as I saw her stall flooded.

🌀HURRICANE MILTON UPDATE🌀

UPDATE FROM CLAY COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: As Clay County Emergency Management is making logistical decisions on how best to serve our community and prepare for what could be a dangerous storm, they have decided to cancel all events happening at the Clay County Fairgrounds starting today, 10/7, through Sunday, 10/13. This includes our show scheduled for October 12-13th.

While we wanted to be able to stick to our plan, we have to roll with the punches which is what we like to think equestrians do best! We are working with the County to come up with an alternative show date (what's everyone think about two weekends in a row next month??) and will keep everyone updated as things develop.
___________________________________________________________________

As fellow trainers, exhibitors and pony moms, we know that horse shows are more than just fun and friendly competition. These shows are income for our local trainers and for some, a much needed dry stall to escape from an otherwise wet farm. We want to continue to be that for people (especially when they need it most) while continuing to keep safety as the upmost priority.

Our team remains committed to monitoring the storm while tackling farm preparations right alongside you. We will be making it a point to consider the local impacts and inspect the venue Thursday before making any decisions about this weekend. Stay tuned and stay safe.

UPDATE: Wow! Love all your responses. We will be announcing ways to contribute shortly including Venmo, Cash, Check and we will set up a Go Fund Me Page! Watch the page so you can share as well!! We can do this!!!

Here is the Go Fund Me Link: https://gofund.me/39d44f35

We can also accept Venmo, cash and checks.

Hello Boarders! We are going to be hosting a fundraiser to raise at least $25,000 to send 3 or 4 tractor trailer loads of hay in to Tennessee and North Carolina. These places are decimated and the animals have nothing but water and mud under their feet. I’ve arranged (on standby) for delivery of quality orchard/alfalfa hay out of Canada. We would love for all of you to be involved as a farm family to help raise money through your business, friends or family. Please touch base with me if you are willing to help. We want to move as quickly as possible to help our equine families!! More to follow!!!

Beautiful day after the storm🧡 very fortunate we didn’t get hit, keeping those who did in our prayers!

Here we GROW again!! With the increasing interest in our shows, coupled with the exciting plans we have for next year, a need for support in the office has surfaced. We would love to use the rest of the show season to train for this position so that we can transition into 2025 smoothly.

The role is open to someone willing to learn that has a strong set of customer service skills while being able to roll with the punches and is efficient in an office setting. The job may also require some lifting in terms of setting up and packing up the office equipment and a little cardio when a runner may be needed (but we won't ask you to run).

This job is offered at a daily rate with the largest commitment being on Sundays and can be applied as a show credit. Contact Megan Yanko today with any interest or inquiries.

All I Want To Do Is Jump

I ran a fairly large lesson program for almost 20 years. This is a statement I have heard over and over, both in my lesson barn days and from colleagues today.

All I want to do is jump.

There are a few problems with this. Let's start with the horse. I love the old horseman's saying " horses only have so many jumps in them ". Is that 100, 1000 before it becomes lame.... No one knows....but horses certainly weigh a lot and the concussion landing on those small little legs is significant. Horses also get bored, burned out....and let's face it...sour.
Respect for the horse . The riders job is to do the best thing for the horse. Most horses only need jumped a few days a week. That means if a lesson horse works 5 days a week, only 2 of those are jumping days. 3 of those are purely flatwork or hacking.

Riders : most of jumping well has NOTHING to do with jumping. Riders need to work on pace, transitions, straightness, their position, effectiveness of aids, balance, ability to change positions smoothly ( from 2 point to sitting etc ) and so much more.

So if you are one of those students who Just Wants To Jump , please replace that with "I want to be an effective rider and horseman or woman . I want to do what is best for the horse "

And instructors who cave to this plea from students
Only YOU can set the CULTURE of your barn. Talk frequently about horsemanship and doing right by the animals.

We had so much fun this weekend, we're going to do it again. Entries are NOW OPEN through HorseShowsOnline.com for our Annual Spooktacular!! The pre-entry deadline is October 5th - any stalls cancelled after this deadline will be billed in full.

We have so much fun planned. All of which would be impossible without our sponsors, so we want to extend a huge thank you to Elizabeth Howell, Lee Cesery and Family, New Heights Equestrian, Laura Urban and Joe Borger with Joe Fix It for their unwavering support.

If you were a recipient of one of our perpetual trophies last year, we ask that you use this show as a chance to return those trophies so we can get them ready to pass along to the next winner. If you plan to attend our banquet this year, please be sure to get your reservations made with Alexis in the office.

Updated points are coming your way so stay tuned!!

What a outstanding weekend! Everyone had a blast at River City Hunter Jumper Association, LLC September show! It’s been a minute since everybody has been in the ring but every single one of my riders blew me away! Many of my riders walked out with grand champion and reserve champion! So proud! Learning experience for everyone every time and that’s what I truly love about shows. In addition to, the sportsmanship and horsemanship I’ve seen in these girls tugs on my heart strings as I’ve worked hard to build strong horsewomen. Thank you to everyone for a great weekend and can’t wait to come back next month!
Also everyone wish Diane Jackson a very happy birthday as I couldn’t do this without her!

Ya'll. It's a FULL house ladies and gentlemen!!

As a reminder, stalls marked with pink tape should be left alone. None of these stalls have been assigned and all are indicated on the chart with the dark grey, but we did have to get creative and appreciate your understanding with the occasional "splits".

We ask that no exhibitors/horses arrive prior 10am to allow our staff to not only get setup, but to check for accuracy (which gets increasingly difficult with early arrivals).
