I saw this news clip from Canadian News this evening and I believe it is something everyone should see. We understand your frustrations over costs as clients and pet owners. We really do only want to help your pets. I want to echo two things said here. The subsided cost of the spay/neuter at local humane societies are for those people who cannot afford it. It is subsided over $400 through donations, grants, etc. So yes, spaying and neutering your pets costs more than $50. Also, our wonderful staff at MAC is not paid anywhere near what your human nurses and staff are. Neither are the veterinarians paid close to human Drs. Unfortunately this is just a fact. Like Said in this video- if we did pay staff appropriately then even the wealthy could barely afford care for their pets. Rescuing a pet means you now Own them. Owning a pet is not a right. It is a responsibility to another living thing and promise to love and take care of it. I will leave you with the final words of the broadcaster....... remember you get what you pay for!

As we enter the season of giving and receiving, the St. Augustine Humane Society has a pet food pantry that is in need of donations. Or if you know of somebody with pets needing a little extra help the pantry is open on Fridays.

Our Pet Food Pantry distributes over 2,000 pounds of pet food monthly to families every Friday under our pavilion. We are always in need of pet food donations.

If you can help, please pick up some extra food or BOGOs the next time you shop or purchase from an online retailer! Any brand of dry or wet food is welcome.

Donations can be dropped off under our pavilion or mailed to:
St. Augustine Humane Society

St. Augustine 32084.

If you or someone you know is having challenges providing for their pets, please tell them about the self-service Pet Food Pantry, which is open only on Fridays under the pavilion.
