We have a superhero among us!

Jennifer is one of Ayla's Acres foster Mom's. She continues to foster even though she has adopted several kitties along the way.

Enter Lola...she was a neighbor cat. On one of the really cold nights, she showed up at Jennifer's backdoor. Of course, Jennifer let her in. It was soon cold outside. Well, Lola refused to leave. No really. She wouldn't budge.

Lola has now officially joined Jennifer's family. Thank you Jen. Once again, you are our hero!

Merlin worked his magic.

Little Merlin was found downtown by a bed and breakfast staff member who found him with his leg trapped in decking on a cold and rainy morning. Hannah fell in love and adopted this lucky boy.

Thank you Hannah!

Phi Alpha Omega sorority held a bachelor auction to raise funds for a local charity! Ayla's Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue is the recipient from that fundraiser.

Thank you so much. The sorority raised over $2,000. This donation will help Ayla's Acres with expenses due to the fire...so grateful.

I have a 10 month old pure bread Catahula who is fixed and chipped whom I need to rehome. I’ve had her since 8 weeks old and is a sweet extremely energetic puppy. She is crate trained, potty trained and understands some commands. She’s great with kids and other dogs. She will be a pleasure in any home, is friendly to all dogs at the dog daycare and I’m looking to rehome to a family who can truly support her daily exercise needs. I have another adult Catahula who doesn’t really appreciate her energy.

If you're interested, please call Bryan at 917-549-5050.

We had an amazing day at Pierre's Pub in St Augustine. The entire day was a fundraiser organized for Ayla's Acres. We raised over $11,000. All of the money will be used towards expenses having to do with the fire.

Thank you Paul Thompson and Bryan Almon for opening up your venue and organizing all of the events. Christian Powers arranged for the music.

The musicians were awesome. Thank you Chelsea Saddler, Josh Worthy, Buddy Crump, Alanis Sophia, Julie Papili, Cassidy Lee, Chase Fouraker, Christian Powers, and Vice Versa. Your support was wonderful.

Thank you to our guest bar tenders Lisa Kinnaly, Di McQueen, and Julie Ann Brunsky. You all kept them hopping all day.

Dee Trousdell, Vernon Keith, and Sharon Kramer helped us with the Ayla's Acres games throughout the day.

The community, both local and visiting, really stepped up to support this event.

Thank you all for contributing to this successful event!

The Colonial Oak Music Park was rockin out last night. Circus was an awesome band, and everyone enjoyed.

Thank you Jason, Kevin, and all of the staff at Colonial Oak Music Park for putting on another great show. Thank you Circus for all of your support and great music.

Karla, Terri, Sharon, Joan, Lisa, and Julie Ann from Ayla's Acres had everything running smoothly. You were all terrific.

And finally, a thank you to the community-locals and tourists alike, for coming out in the cold and helping our animals!

SANCTUARY UPDATE!

It's been 3 1/2 weeks since the fire at the sanctuary. We've been making progress, but still have a ways to go.

Chuck is making progress. The skin graft on his back seems to have worked. It is healing nicely. He now has a tracheotomy. He is being weened of the ventilator. He is awake and responding to people he knows. He has sat in a chair, and has taken a few steps. This all looks very promising for Chuck. Please continue sending your prayers. Nedra is hanging in there. She has been through a lot and needs your prayers as well.

All of the sanctuary dogs are now in St. Augustine in foster care. The next step is to get them into furever homes. These are wonderful, friends pooches. If you're interested in adopting one of these dogs, please fill out an application at aylasacres.org.

There is still one adoptable cat and two barn cats at the sanctuary. We are looking for places for them in St. Augustine.

The donkeys have their furever home. They will be transported as soon as the enclosure is built for them. They are staying together.

We still have four horses. They have been vaccinated and had their coggins. These horses are not rideable. One is albino Pasofino. White Cloud needs to be in a protected shelter during the day, and can be out at night. Spirit and Three Legs are Quarter Horses. We would like to keep them together. Hercules is a Thoroughbred. We are working on one health issue with him, so he is not quite ready for transport.

Joseph, the sheep; Lucky, the goat and Gertrude the goose are still in need of a home. Lucky and Gertrude would like to stay together. They are a bonded pair. Up to date on vaccines and ready to roll.

If you can help in any way. Please fill out an application at aylasacres.org, or make a donation at the same location.

Thank you Katie and staff at the St Augustine Farmer's Market for inviting Ayla's Acres to participate in yesterday's market.

Ayla's Acres volunteers Julie Ann, Dee and Laurie meet with folks attending the market to update them on the recent fire, and to introduce them to our adoptable animals.

It was a wonderful event!

Congratulations to Josie!
This sweet girl went to foster-to-adopt with Heather & Beau but we had a feeling she was meant for their family. After a short time, it’s official! We’re so excited that Josie found such a wonderful family with Heather and her new best bud Beau.

Our Story

The Challenge – In northeast and north central Florida, more than 30,000 animals are euthanized every year. This region, like many others in our country, faces the challenging problems that result from failure to address and resolve companion animal overpopulation issues. These issues directly affect the quality of life for both animals and people in the counties we serve.

As a result, thousands of animals – many unwanted and/or abused, end up in shelters, animal control facilities or left homeless and abandoned. This problem is overwhelming for most communities and must be addressed proactively in order to enhance the lives of the people and the animals living there. The Response - Ayla’s Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue Inc. is committed to helping north Florida be a role model for humane animal care and concern. The animal welfare community in Duval County, FL is proactively addressing the overpopulation of animals through aggressive spay and neuter, and Ayla’s Acres strives to extend this model to underserved communities and surrounding counties in northeast and north central Florida. We have established a threefold approach to address the overpopulation problem.
