NO REPORTED CASES YET IN FLORIDA. YAY!!

WE ARE WORKING WITH OUR FARRIERS SO THEY CAN CONTINUE TO PROVIDE SERVICE. THE ONLY FARRIERS WE HAVE CONFIRMED PROTOCOL WITH ARE LEXI, MARK CHESSER AND ELI. IF YOU ARE USING A DIFFERENT FARRIER, HAVE THEM CALL ME ASAP. OTHERWISE THEY CANNOT COME ON PROPERTY.

**ADDITIONALLY, TRAINERS ARE CONSIDERED NON-ESSENTIAL, THEREFORE, NO TRAINERS CAN COME ONSITE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE FOR EVERYONES SAFETY.**

UPDATE 11/20/25: FURTHER PRECAUTIONS PER DR. EMILY: NO FARRIERS, CHIROS, VETS, TRAINERS, VENDORS OF ANY TYPE OR VISITORS OF ANY KIND, ETC., CAN COME ONSITE WITHOUT CALLING ME FIRST AND PROVIDING ME WITH THE HISTORY OF THEIR RECENT FARM VISITS AND INTERACTIONS. SORRY, BUT THIS IS FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL HORSES. NOTHING IS WORTH TAKING ANY CHANCES AND ALL PRECAUTIONS WILL BE TAKEN. THIS MIGHT MEAN A WEEK OR TWO OF THEM NOT BEING HERE, BUT BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.

Boarders! Due to the recent EHV outbreak, there will be no trailering of your horse off of the property until further notice. This is for the health and safety of all of our horses.

EHV outbreak!
Info from Dr. Emily:

Your horse is protected from the most current strains of EHV including strain one and strain four. There is no vaccine that 100% prevents the neurologic form of EHV. The vaccine we give provides the best coverage to help limit the spread of EHV to and between horses, which in theory may minimize the risk of contracting the neurologic form.

My ultimate recommendation is to stay put for a little while until we understand more about the severity of this situation and determine its ultimate presence here in Florida.

Definitely no sharing the buckets and wash hands between horses if we’re doing anything with their mouths, i.e. putting bits and or sharing bits that kind of thing.

It would not be a bad idea to check temperatures of any horses that may appear to be a little lethargic or off once to twice per day, and if any temperature exceeds 102.5 please call me as soon as possible so that we can determine what the next best step is and perform diagnostics as needed.

I appreciate you checking in and if you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out! Best advice: No trailering off the farm for now!

Thank you to everyone who came out today for Dr. Emily‘s “Equine Q&A!” Everyone was able to watch X-rays of Kimmie’s hoof, an eye exam on Parker and a special thank you to Bull and all of his patience being a “wounded warrior” as the model for bandaging. Great questions/discussions on colic, meds, kissing spine and more. Not to mention, lunch and a birthday cake for Dr. Emily! Congrats to Kelly (Preston) for winning the horse treat raffle and to Karen (Piper) who won the shock wave therapy raffle!
