π¨ Alert! Tick Season Begins Now! πΏ
These tiny insects threaten our furry friends.
Ticks are not just a seasonal concern; they can latch onto dogs year-round. Ticks lurk where our pets roam, whether in the forest or urban areas.
The real danger lies in ticks carrying babesia, a parasite that invades a dog's bloodstream, causing babesiosis.
Symptoms include lethargy, loss of appetite, bloody urine, diarrhea, and fever.
Without treatment, babesiosis can be fatal.
Regular tick checks are crucial, especially after outdoor activities.
Use tweezers to remove any attached ticks carefully.
If symptoms of babesiosis appear, seek veterinary care promptly.
Stay vigilant, even beyond tick season, to keep your furry friend safe and healthy.

Have you noticed your dog panting or drinking excessively? πΎ
Hyperadrenocorticism, or Cushing's disease, affects our furry friends, especially those in their middle age or older. Common symptoms include increased appetite, excessive thirst, skin abnormalities, and more. But what causes it?
There are three types of Cushing's disease, each with its origin. From pituitary tumors to adrenal gland issues, the diagnosis involves thorough testing like blood and urine analysis and ultrasound. Treatment options range from medication to surgery, depending on the type and severity of the disease.
If you notice any symptoms in your pet, consult your vet for diagnosis and care options. With timely treatment, our furry companions can lead happy, healthy lives! π©Ί

π±πΆ Nail Trimming for Cats and Dogs
Consider the intricate connection between your pet's claws and their musculoskeletal health. Overgrown claws can force awkward paw placement, leading to strain on joints and ligaments. With their sharper claws, cats are particularly prone to this issue, as they may curl inward and cause paw pad injuries.
π While outdoor activities can naturally wear down a dog's claws, regular inspection remains vital, especially for smaller breeds that may need more frequent trimming. Cats, notorious for using furniture as scratching posts, benefit from professional nail trimming to avoid damaging the sensitive quick.
To ensure your pet's nails stay trim and healthy, entrust their care to our expert services. Our preventive care plans include routine nail trims for cats and dogs of any age and need!

Choose pet toys responsibly to keep them safe.
πͺ΅ Avoid wooden toys, as they can cause oral injuries and broken teeth.
πͺ
Toys with small details, like plastic eyes or buttons, pose a choking hazard or risk intestinal obstruction if ingested.
π Be cautious with balls, ensuring they are an appropriate size to prevent suffocation. Tennis balls can grind teeth and irritate the oral cavity.
π₯ Avoid toys made from foamed polyvinyl chloride due to toxic materials and potential gastrointestinal issues if swallowed.
πͺΆ Tiny toys, especially for cats, can be easily swallowed, leading to health problems.
Stay away from toys with ribbons, threads, or ropes, as they can cause entanglement.
Exercise caution with toys featuring feathers, threads, or sequins to prevent ingestion. πΎ
If you have experienced the unpleasant consequences of playing with dangerous toys, we are here to help: https://appointment.kindredpetcare.com/
Ensure a well-balanced diet and regular veterinary check-ups to safeguard your furry friend. Despite your best efforts, here are six common diseases with heightened risks in a pup's first year:
1οΈβ£ Parvovirus
Highly contagious among puppies aged 12 weeks to three years.
Symptoms: Fever, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, weakness, dehydration.
Best defense: Prompt vaccination. Sick puppies may require drips and antibiotics.
2οΈβ£ Canine Distemper Virus (CDV)
Effective vaccination is available.
Initial signs: Upper respiratory issues, sneezing, eye discharge. Progresses to pneumonia or neurological problems.
Treatment involves supportive therapy; survivors can face recurrence.
3οΈβ£ Kennel Cough
Caused by bacterial infection or parainfluenza viruses, transmitted through airborne droplets.
Regular vaccination is crucial.
Symptoms: Lethargy, decreased appetite, increased temperature, deep cough. It can lead to pneumonia if untreated.
4οΈβ£ Adenovirus
Causes infectious hepatitis but is rare due to effective vaccines.
Symptoms: Gastrointestinal issues, vomiting, diarrhea.
Inpatient infusion therapy may be needed; antibiotics if necessary.
5οΈβ£ Leptospirosis
Bacterial disease is transmitted through contaminated water and infected urine.
Flu-like symptoms: Vomiting, fever.
Treatment involves antibiotics.
Prevention through timely vaccinations and vigilant observation is key to ensuring your pup's health. πΎπΆ

Chubby little cuties melt our hearts, and the temptation to shower them with treats is real.
However, excess weight can be harmful; unfortunately, animals won't voice their discomfort.
For instance, for a 4 kg cat gaining 1 kg, it's like a human going from 60 kg to 75 kg.
So, monitoring your pet's weight is crucial. Signs of excess weight include an enormous belly, loss of waistline, decreased endurance, and shortness of breath.

Dear Pet Parents,
We want to provide an update on the recent outbreak of a mysterious respiratory disease affecting dogs in the United States. As reported by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA):
πΎ Over 200 cases have been reported only in Oregon since mid-August. It is not yet known precisely how many animals became victims of the new disease.
πΎ The disease is challenging to treat with antibiotics and can lead to severe pneumonia in as little as 24-36 hours.
πΎ The causative agent is still unknown. It is suspected that it may be a virus. Still, the results of general respiratory tests were either negative or identified pathogens that cannot cause such symptoms
Amid the recent outbreak of a mysterious respiratory disease in dogs, veterinarians recommend staying calm. Ensure your pets are vaccinated and limit their interactions with other dogs. These precautions are crucial for protecting your pet.
Suppose you observe symptoms in your pet, such as coughing, dryness, being productive, sneezing, nasal or ocular discharge, lethargy or weakness, decreased appetite, or fever - call us (630.473.8461) or schedule online for further assessment: https://appointment.kindredpetcare.com/.
