The Road Home Animal Project

The Road Home Animal Project TRHAP is a 100% volunteer. 501c3 non profit that helps rehab and rehome animals. Private home foster based in and around St Clairsville, Ohio.

We are 100% volunteers, licensed by Ohio Agriculture Dept, Division of Animal Health and we are a 501c3, non-profit organization. We are located in Belmont County Ohio. It is our mission to help animals in need. We work with dogs, some small companion animals and livestock on a limited basis and on foster availability. We do not handle cats because there are numerous organizations in our area that

work with and only handle cats. Animals that come into our rescue are from owner surrenders, shelters, medical cases that were surrender to veterinarians, unwanted animals from breeders. WE NEVER BUY OR PAY FOR ANIMALS THAT COME INTO OUR RESCUE. We do not have a specific facility. Any housing of animals will be on a foster and volunteer basis. We do not have animals living in crates or kennels. We have them in foster homes and livestock on farms. We educate animal owners on the proper care of their animals. We will work together with animal owners to place animals in need into loving, forever homes. Dogs receive the following as routine care; Heart worm & Lyme testing, dewormings, microchip, Dhlppc or Dhlpp vaccines, Lyme vaccines, Kennel cough vaccine, rabies vaccine and spay & neuter. Dogs may receive bloodwork , dentals, x-rays, or any additional care recommended by our vets. If they are Heartworm positive or Lyme positive, we treat them. We adopt to approved homes (includes out of state). We require an application to be completed before meeting a dog. If you are the approved adopter, we will reach out to you to make arrangements. Unfortunately, we cannot contact everyone individually that applied for an animal. We are almost always available, but please respect our hours. Please do not call us outside of our posted hours except for a dire emergency. Main contact numbers are 740-579-1990 or 304-312-6882. Please feel free to text. We are a member of the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce. We are also partnered with Belmont County Sheriff's Office to build the first dog park in the county.

Meet Jumba 💙

This sweet boy was surrendered to a local vet (not ours) because owner wanted to euthanize him as he was not gaining weight.
Vet wouldn't do it and asked us to help him.
He has been seen by our vet- He is Lyme positive and also full of hookworms. He's now being treated for both. He also has urine scalding on his testicles (being neutered in 2 weeks) and sores on his legs, tail and feet from being in a crate too long.

He loves everyone he meets, was great with the vets and staff and likes other dogs. Super nice boy and we are happy to help him.
He's not quite ready for adoption but we will start taking apps. Link in comments with additional pics.

Who is loving this sun? Butler is! 🌞

Update- He is doing great!
Stitches will be removed next week. He is learning to run and make left hand turns without his eye but he will get there! We love his little spirit! He's just the best. Getting lots of love from his foster. ❤️
And we aren't sure what his ears are doing (it's not the wind) 😂

Not accepting apps on him yet.

Update : ADOPTED
Miss Perez 🩷

Now taking apps.

This little girl arrived 2 weeks ago. She does have a very small fontanelle which should close as she get bigger. Link to read about fontanelles in the comments. This can happen in some smaller breed pups. She's been getting love from her foster family.
Perez is a sweet, ornery and loving pup. We recommend no toddlers or large dogs in her new home due to her size and the fontanelle.
We know. She's adorable.

Meet the new girl! Strawberry 🍓
Bernese Mt Dog
8 weeks old. 9lbs

Strawberry was loving raised by a vet tech when Strawberry had a difficult time nursing off her mom. Strawberry has a visual impairment in one of her eyes. She's not blind but probably cannot see far distances. Her eyes have been tested. This doesn't stop her. She runs around, loves to play with other dogs and then snug on the couch with you. SO SWEET!
She will be on the smaller side for a Bernese.

Update: Stella is on her way back to her foster. The flourscopy determined we were correct with the consistency of food that weeks best for her. She does not have a hiatal hernia or any other findings except for aspiration pneumonia. It is not causing any problems and she is not showing any clinical signs, therefore no need for antibiotics.

Several labs tests are being sent out to just make sure there isn’t any underlying cause of her Mega-E .

They are making a medication adjustment and we also got a variety of high caloric food samples to try and see what she can tolerate the best.

Our goal is to get weight on her and get her healthy so she can find her family.🙏

Stella is at Ohio State. She is seeing Internal Medicine. She is having some testing done today. We are doing our best to help her in her journey to being a healthy girl. Please keep her in your thoughts.
