~*HOLIDAY HOURS*~
We will be closed on Monday December 25th, 2023 for our employees to enjoy their holidays with their families! We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday December 26th, 2023. We will also be closed Monday January 1st, 2024 and resume normal hours on Tuesday January 2nd, 2024. We will be open 12/25/2023 & 1/1/2024 between 5:00pm-5:15pm for boarding pick up only!! There has been some concerns with the new respiratory virus called Atypical Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease (CIRD), that is going around that is affecting dogs. We have not personally seen any here at the clinic, but to help keep our dogs and puppies safe, we recommend:
- Keep sick dogs at home and isolated from other dogs for at least 30 days.
- Avoid contact with sick dogs and consider leaving pets at home when visiting other households with dogs.
- Ensure all veterinary recommended vaccines are up to date (bordetella)
-Practice good cleaning & disinfecting practices

Some patients that can be more susceptible to this virus include the following: Puppies, Senior dogs, pets with underlying health concerns and brachycephalic (short nosed) breeds.

Some signs to look for would be similar to other respiratory viruses such as coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, lethargy. Should you think you pet has contracted CIRD or have concerns, please reach out. One of our veterinary technicians can speak with you.

Granite City Pet Hospital is looking for motivated individuals to join our veterinary team, We are currently hiring Veterinary Technicians, Receptionists, and Veterinary Assistants. We offer full-time positions with 36-40 hours per week. Hours vary and include mornings, evenings, and possible weekends. Applicants must be able to work well with other team members and as an individual in a fast-paced environment. Good communication skills and a strong work ethic are needed.
Duties include: interacting with clients and their pets, surgery assistance, dental assistance, lab processing, taking/creating appointments, taking and processing digital x-rays, performing treatments on our patients, etc. Any person interested should drop off a resume as soon as possible.

We had a good Samaritan bring this little lady in today. She was found running by Madison Elementary, no microchip. Please contact the clinic if this little girl is yours and we can get you in contact with the finder. She will be staying with the good Samaritan until her family is found.

It's almost that time of year again! Time to enjoy America's favorite past time, baseball with man's best friend! You heard correctly!! We are teaming up with the St. Cloud Rox to sponsor Bark-in-the-Park again! Come enjoy the game while the Rox take on the Duluth Huskies on July 5th! Tickets can be purchased online or at the field! If your bringing your furry friend, their tickets can be purchased at the gate along the 1st base line!! All dogs need to be on leash and please clean up after your pets!!!

This young lady will be retiring next week after 40 years!!! We can not explain how much she has meant to this businesss. Was with my dad at the first day GCPH opened, and continued with the drive and dedication through all the years. She loves all the clients and patients without limitations. She only wants everyone well. Thank you, thank you, thank you for everything that you have done for the business, but most important for our family. Yes, it’s officially the start of tick season! I know, it sounds crazy, but we’ve already had our first mentions of clients finding ticks on their pets. These fluctuating weather temps allow for creepy crawlies to start becoming active again and the first thing they will look for is a host to feed off of. So start your preventatives if your pet isn’t already on them to prevent the transmission of tick born diseases! 🪳🦟🪱

What's cuter than a couple puppies?? Hera the German Shepherd and Sunny the Golden Retriever were in for their last round of puppy vaccines! These two were such good girls!

We have a new groomer! That's right folks! We have a 3rd groomer! Abi has been grooming for 6 years. Happily married with 2 Goldie boys and a kitty. Her favorite holiday is Christmas because of All the lights and the happiness it brings people. She loves the art of grooming and making pets feel fresh and fancy.
