James went to the ARHA World Show as a c**t to get some out of town experience. This son of our all-time favorite horse, RDC Josey Whales "Gus" exceeded expectations when a last minute add to the ranch roping with Blake allowed him to show off his quietness in the herd and lined up a long shot in a good position on flighty cattle! Placing 1st under one judge and 4th under another left him 3rd in the world!

Oh Ginnie. This post makes me so happy to make! Ginnie was a last minute add to the crew headed to the ARHA World Show. Mainly because Ginnie came to us a true outlaw that only Blake could ride and we thought she would never see the inside of a show pen. When she decided to get on the team, she hasn't looked back! The first night at WEC when owner Deana threw a leg over her was an emotional moment. This pair is the reason we do what we do!

This sweet young mare showed us just how gritty she really is! After a long trip to Texas just a week before the ARHA show had her a little jet lagged, she continued to get stronger and better with each entry. She placed top 10 in every class she entered, usually as the youngest horse in the class!

The barn favorite more than impressed us so early in his show career! While bred and started as a Reiner it was the cow classes that he excelled in at the ARHA World Show. When we put him on cows for the first time in March we knew we'd found his niche and he proved it the last few weeks - winning the Open All Around Cow Horse High Point!

After being 5th in the Open Ranch Cow Work at the AQHA VRH World Versatility show in Amarillo, Piggy showed he had the heart of a lion and gave his all at the ARHA World just a few weeks later under 2 riders! He made his Amateur debut with Audra Colgan and held his own in the Open with Blake. He earned a total of $423.00 and 169 points.

It's been a good couple days for Chesnut's Equine at the ARHA World Championship Show.

Starting with the youngest member of the team - Cypress and Ladi Playgirl "Bunny" had a smoking trail run and ended up 7th in the world in the Youth 10 & Under trail!! We are so proud of this team and the way they really pull together for the pattern classes! Way to go!!

July is the time to start working on the fall show string, get your horse tuned up for fall trail-riding season or to get your two year old off to a great start! Blake specializes in cow horses, using horses, and versatility ranch horses with both AQHA and all-breed events.

Our c**t starting program gives a solid foundation to take your equine partner any direction you want to go! Our program is unique in that your horse will get arena time, trail riding, and ranch work. We have had c**ts go on to be successful in cutting, ranch horse versatility, reined cow horse, barrel racing, trail riding, and even hunter jumper events.

C**t starting spots are generally available month to month. Show spots are extremely limited.

WOW, what a whirlwind week in West Texas! We were so blessed on our very first trip to the AQHA VRH World Show in Amarillo! We showed, reconnected with some old friends, made new friends, increased our knowledge, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. 💕💕💕

Blake and Hursts Playin Pepto (owned by Kyra Smeller) competed in:

🐷VRH Junior Cow Work - where they were 5th in the world!!! We couldn't be prouder of Pig's boxing and monster turns down the fence.

🐷VRH Junior Ranch Cutting - After some tough luck getting run over by the first cow, the team worked their second cow beautifully and ended up 30th in the world.

🐷VRH Junior Ranch Riding - although this isn't Blake's favorite event, they competed against some of the best in the world and ended up 31st. The team earned some plus maneuvers and know what to improve for next year.

We couldn't do what we do without our village!

First, and foremost, a HUGE thank you to Kyra Smeller. Who has believed in Blake and Piglet from the beginning, and picked our program to train and show this talented young stallion. While Blake has had the privilege to train and show horses for Kyra for the past 32 years, we had no idea how much fun it would be to storm Amarillo with her for a week, the Western Horseman may never be the same! 😆

Next, we are fortunate to be surrounded by top notch professionals that always lend helpful advice and turnback help in the show pen.
