Private lands make a difference for panthers
If you’re a private landowner and care about the future of the Florida panther, we want to help you!

We are proud to launch the Florida Panther Payment for Ecosystem Services pilot program to support panther conservation. The new program provides per-acre payments to landowners for habitat conditions that support panther conservation and promote landscape connectivity.

Interested landowners who meet the basic requirements are encouraged to apply. After a site visit from FWC staff, selected participants will receive annual payments for three years, with opportunities for bonus payments. Enrollment is highly competitive and depends on the location, quantity, and quality of panther habitat provided, along with available funding.

We received an intake last night. Poor coonie has sarcoptic mange and distemper. I had to take his life. Being a wildlife Rehabilitator is not for the weak of heart. It is hard. Emotionally. Physically. Financially. Neonate feedings around the clock. Euthanizing to give the animal freedom from pain. If you have never been a wildlife rehabilitator, shadow and volunteer with a licensed Rehabilitator. Donate food, supplies, and money. We do not get compensated in any way. Public donations are our way of not having to pass up on wildlife that we can help. Rehabilitators do the work. The hard work. We need YOU to make the donations! Thank you to everyone who has donated and will donate! It is what keeps us going! 🦝💜

Here is some good information!! Pass it on!!

We are a phone call away if you don't see a HWC operator listed near you in Animal Help Now's app & website to help you resolve this issue!

Truth is, of all critters to have in your attic the raccoon is the best you would choose! Also the easiest to resolve with a few additional pointers. Like... How do you know for sure it is safe to close an entry hole, that all animals are gone? Easy! Just stuff paper in the hole, or lightly tape plastic over the hole. Now wait a few nights and watch it... No change in the paper or plastic at all after 48+ hours? Seal 'er up! And make that repair bear-proof strong. Do the same to any other potential points of entry. Why? Because "Once a den site, always a den site" unless you prevent that.

This is why removing animals is pointless, a waste of money and effort (and never, ever is humane). The raccoon isn't your conflict at all here - that entry hole was! Once they move on (and this species always will) all you need to do is prevent future access. Problem solved! :)

We have 3 new babies! Meet Colby, Avery and Lizzy.

These little ones are around 8 weeks old. Mom and one sibling were unfortunately hit by a car. An awesome finder found the three babies in the road huddled together. He picked them up, contacted a rehabber immediately, and we received them late last night. (The finder had to put them in a bird cage, but hey! It worked!)

They are in pretty good shape. They have been weighed, wormed and given their first parvo vaccine. They’re very scared and very wild.

We will care for these babies until they’re ready to go out on their own. 🦝💜

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who made a donation in memory of Annette Ketchum, Nathalie Ketchum Barnhart’s precious mom. I am very slow in getting thank you notes out. We have been working on them. They will go out in the mail next week! Thank you for memorializing such a sweet lady. I never got to meet her, but I feel like I know her through Nathalie. What a very animal loving lady. To you all who knew and loved her, I am so sorry for your loss.

What? You asked about making a donation to Roxy's Raccoon Rehabilitation and Rescue Inc.? Well, here is the info! All funds donated go directly to the animals. We house them approximately 6 months before they are released back to their natural habitat. We are supported by people just like you! No governmental funds are provided. We are all volunteers.

These two babies were found in an old hay bale yesterday in Howey in the Hills. Mom had obviously put them there and they were well nourished.

We put a post on RR911 and a local rehabber responded. Since it seems the mother hadn’t been gone long, she is going to work to reunite them. We ALWAYS want to try to reunite first when possible. If the reunite does not take place, she will care for the babies until they’re old enough to be released.

Here in Florida, neonates are rescued year-round unlike other areas so we need public support and donations year-round to care for these little babies.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation, the coonies would be so appreciative. 🦝💜 Wildlife Rehabbers do not get any type of federal, state or county assistance with the financial aspect of our rehabilitation and subsequent release back into the wild.

New intake alert! 📢

We got this brother and sister in from the SeaWorld area. Jan got them hydrated, taking the bottle and on Fox Valley formula.

On Thursday they will be transferred to another rehabber who has a single baby the same age so they can become a litter together. 💜🦝

Sorry for the wait! Here is our raccoon release from 10/20/24.

Stay safe, little coonies! We hope you have wonderful lives! 🦝💜

Thank you to Elizabeth at Little Bit Wildlife Rescue for donating formula for Roxy's off site volunteers. Roxy's would not be where it is now if not for donations and the amazing volunteers who care for the orphaned raccoons. Because of the donations and the volunteers, Roxy's is able to give these babies a chance at the life God gifted to them. If you have donated, thank you from the bottom of my heart and the coonies thank you even more!!

Meet Sparky! 🦝

Sparky was found curled up in a ball behind a shed on August 25th. Almost two months later, look how much he’s grown! He is a happy, healthy boy that just started eating solid foods.

Sparky will be released back into the wild when he’s ready.
