Baby 320645 has been one of our longer-term cats, and while we usually say that it's no fault of their own... with Baby, it just might be. 😅

She is the type of cat that wants love on her terms. That when she is done receiving affection from you, she very much makes it known that she is finished with you by pulling back and taking a swipe, maybe giving a little hiss if she's feeling ✨extra spicy✨. That doesn't mean that she is unfriendly, she is just looking for that right person who understands her needs and doesn't push her boundaries. Her personality doesn't mesh well in a shelter environment and makes her easy to pass by. We're hoping to find someone who is cat savvy to take her in. Right now, all fees are waived for the month of August for Clear the Shelters! Come down and meet her.

Oh, Diego!
This lovely hunk is Diego A318500 and you probably recognize him because we have posted videos of him during our pool party and used him for some of our promotional material for our upcoming microchip event. This love bug is a staff favorite, great with other dogs, and has the cutest heart shaped nose! ❤ We are all so surprised that he is still waiting for his forever home and are hoping that this post helps him find his special someone!

Ever been curious about one of our shelter pets, but wanted to see before committing to adoption if the pet is a good fit for your family or lifestyle? Then short-term fostering is probably for you! If you are interested in one of our pets, come meet them at the shelter and do a "trial run"! You can complete the foster application at the shelter and take the pet home on the same day. If they aren't the best fit for you, it still allows the pet a break from the shelter environment, gives us more information on the pet for the next potential adopter, and frees a cage for incoming animals. We cover all medical care and provide supplies to fosters until the animal is either adopted or brought back to the shelter. 😁

Pictured is Tigress 321126, who you may recognize from our reel this week. We are currently looking for a medical foster for her to wait for surgery and for post-surgery recovery.

August is officially Clear the Shelters month and we are waiving adoption fees for dogs and cats! Clear The Shelters is a national campaign that encourages people to adopt from their local shelters in an effort to “clear the shelters.” The campaign receives national and local coverage on NBC and each year over 100,000 animals are adopted from shelters and rescues.

We unfortunately have so many lost pets here at the shelter waiting to see if their owners come and pick them up. Do you recognize any of the dogs in these photos? They are some of the dogs that we have here for their legal stray hold and have no known owner. If you are the owner of one of these pets, please call us ASAP at 407-742-8000.

Microchips that are current on their registration are the fastest way to be reunited with your pet if it were to go missing. Every year, we get our annual update on Mia, a dog that was adopted from us back in 2016. It is such a joy to see how pets thrive once in a home after leaving the shelter and seeing those updates are what keep us doing what we do every day. These are a sampling of Mia updates we have gotten over the years and can't wait to get more as the years progress. We are so happy for Mia and her family. Thank you for adopting!

Harvey 319373 is one of our longest residents here at the shelter, for no fault of his own. He's easy going, hasn't had any issues with staff or other animals, and has just been patiently waiting for his time to go home. One of our kennel techs took these adorable photos of Harvey during the pool party last weekend, hoping that showing his great personality would help him get adopted. Meet Freya 321559 and Bella 321560, two sweet and shy ladies that found themselves in our shelter due to their owner passing away. They have been quiet and reserved with us, confused and unsure about their new and sudden surroundings. They are both available for adoption and we are hoping the right person will be interested in taking both of these ladies into their home and giving them new stability. ❤ Please share so they can find their new home!

What an incredible turn out to our pool party yesterday!!! We had ✨26✨ animals find new homes. It was a fun day sharing treats with our 2 leg and 4 leg friends. Thank you for stopping by!

The pools are getting filled, ice in the cooler, our splash pads rolled out... we are so excited for the Pup-sicle Poolooza Adoption Event tomorrow!!! We are waiving all adoption fees for available pets from 10 am to 3pm Saturday 7/27. Wear your best summer attire and go home with a cool new friend. 🐾 Photos are some pets that will be available for adoption but come down and meet everyone!

HAPPY TAIL! 😍 Foster fail edition!
Toby and Fiona are two peas in a pod at their home after being adopted from our shelter! Toby, the kitten, was being fostered through us and the foster parent couldn't say no to that little fluffy face and just had to keep him. Fiona took on the big sister role in earnest and now they live comfortably and spoiled together! Double trouble!

We love adoption updates, but especially love foster fails and foster success stories! If you're someone who wants to help foster little kittens until they get bigger, want to "test drive" one of our adoptable dogs in your home, want to help with recovery for any of our medical cases, or just want to take a pup on a "day-cation", fostering is right for you!!!

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Best Friends Animal Society at our shelter, including CEO Julie Castle / , as they were in the area for their annual conference. In addition to coming to the Shelter for a tour, a group of our staff members were also able to attend. Best Friends continues to be a great partner and support to our Shelter staff and animals. They are always sharing new programs and ideas, and we look forward to continuing to work together to assist our citizens and animals of the Osceola County community.

Hi! I’m Patsy (A320855), and I’m fishing for a good owner. I’m just a little bashful girl who is just needs a patient owner to help me out of my shell, but I have been told I am quite the catch! We have taken in a large number of stray animals recently, which means that cage space is extremely limited! The animals below are available for adoption which includes spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations! If you are able to open up your home with either adoption or fostering (even if just a few days to give an animal a break from the shelter environment) we would appreciate it. The animals and our dedicated staff desperately need the community's help and support.

Meow... I mean, woof! 😜
Bear A319467 wants to show off his cute cat ears that he tried on today at a routine visit with our vet staff! He is a big snuggly pup that knows how to sit and is truly a gentle giant. Don't have a big couch? No problem, he thinks that he is a lap cat and will just use you to sit on instead. 😆 He'd love to meet you and is ready to home today! Our adoption fees are currently $7 for dogs and $4 for cats.

Calling all compassionate cat champions!! 🐱❤️
Can you open your heart and home to a sweet furry friend in need? We're looking for people willing to foster some kitties who need a little extra TLC. All of the cats pictured here are currently under treatment for upper respiratory disease which is typically 10 days of oral medication. Fostering these cats during treatment gets them out of the shelter, in a more comfortable environment to recover, and give them a better chance at kicking illness quickly. They need your help by sharing this post to reach more potential fosters and for people willing to foster these more critical need animals. All they need is less than 2 weeks in a home to recover.

SPECIAL NEEDS ANIMAL ALERT!
We are looking for a person who is willing and ready to open their home to a senior dog that has medical issues that need patience and TLC to navigate. Meet Jalapeno 320856, the sweetest chili dog you've ever met! She's down for cuddling, butt scratches, and even MORE butt scratches. Jalapeno is 12 years old, deaf, and blind. She seeks out love from anyone around her, but of course there are challenges due to her condition. The examining veterinarian stated that her sight may be brought back with further treatment with an opthalmologist or she can still live comfortably if her adopter is willing to meet her needs. We would love for Jalapeno to find her patient and quiet home to live the good life. Please share this post so that we can make it happen!
