In preparation for the upcoming holidays, we will have adjusted hours so we can all enjoy time with our family and friends. We will close at noon on Wednesday, November 22nd, and we will close for Thursday, November 23 as well as Friday November 24th. Please make note of these times if you are boarding your crew with us, or if you are in need of food +/- medications for your pets. Of course we will have staff members taking care of our boarding pets during this time. We just won't be able to make special after-hour drop offs or pick-ups.

Everyone please be safe and take time to appreciate all of our many blessings. I feel it is also a great time to remember how fortunate we have been to have so many wonderful people pass through our lives, however brief. They stay in our hearts, never to be forgotten. (Love and miss you, Dad!) 💜💜💜💜

This sweet girl needs a good, loving home. She is young, healthy and up to date on vaccines. She has obviously missed a few meals, but we are trying to make up for that. We would love to see her find a wonderful home in time to get settled for Thanksgiving. Please call if you're interested.

5 years ago today we started our day with an emergency c-section on Hope, who was a sweet pregnant stray dog. By the end of the day we had 9 beautiful, healthy puppies. Today we celebrated that day with cornbread and daycare! Happy puppy day to Hope. Happy birthday to Walter, Henry, Biscuit, Francis, Napa, Jeffery, Kalua, Stout, and George.

The nationwide heat wave we are all experiencing is not only taking a toll on people, but also on our beloved pets. Here are some tips to keep your pets safe:
~ during the hottest hours of the day, bring your pet indoors into air conditioning. If this is not possible, make sure outdoor pets have plenty of shade, large buckets of water, and ideally a fan to help cool them off.
~ Never leave your pet inside a car with no air conditioning. Interior car temperatures can rise 30 degrees in just 20 minutes which can put your pet's life at risk quickly.
~ if you enjoy exercise with your pet, be sure to go for walks early in the morning or after sunset. Bring water for your pet, take frequent breaks, go shorter distances than you normally would during cooler times of the year.
~ if your pet develops symptoms of heat stroke, seek immediate veterinary care. Symptoms include excessive panting, drooling, weakness, disorientation, lethargy, collapse and seizures.
Wishing everyone and their fur babies a safe and enjoyable rest of their summer!

Latest update:
WE'RE HOME!!!! Thanks for all of the love, support, and prayers! We are finally home! Please keep the prayers coming for comfort and healing. Gary is doing great and is such a trooper! PS he says the funniest things while on pain medication. When he left the recovery room yesterday and was being moved into his private room, he thought the nurse was bringing him to a pizza party! 🍕 He asked about pizza all day. Today he remembers nothing.

UPDATE: I just spoke to the surgeon. It went great! He was just moved into his room. Thank you for all of the prayers, and please keep them coming. He has a longish road to recovery. I appreciate all of you for your care and concern!

I would like to ask our friends, family and clients to join me in prayers for my husband, Gary Shuford . He will be having a pretty big surgery early this Monday morning. Naturally we are both anxious and praying all goes well. Hopefully this is a one-and -done surgery. Please pray for the surgeon to have steady hands and a clear head with confidence in his skills. Hoping for a speedy, minimally painful recovery. Thanks in advance! 💜💜

These are numerous reasons why quality veterinary care and technology are critical in helping your pets get the best dental care available. This dog received dental cleanings elsewhere every 6 months, but never had dental X-rays. All of these problems had been missed previously. She had a broken tooth root, a root abscess, and severe bone loss. You don’t know what’s under the gum line unless you are looking for it with dental X-ray. Dental cleanings without dental xrays is considered below the standard of care by the Board of Veterinary Medicine. With all of our dental cleanings we take xrays and the doctor does a comprehensive oral exam of each tooth, looking for any damage or disease. When pets are discharged, owners are shown their dental xrays with the healthy and damaged teeth. Does YOUR veterinarian do this. Let us keep your pet’s mouth heathy!! They deserve the best, don’t you agree?? Insist on quality care for your babies. "Clean" teeth is NOT the same as HEALTHY teeth!!

We have these precious St. BerNewfie puppies who are 2 weeks old. They are healthy and adorable. Their mom is Aino (1/2 Newfoundland, 1/2 Saint Bernard.) Their dad is Max who is 100% Landseer Newfoundland. Mom and dad are healthy and have wonderful temperments. We are hoping to pre-adopt these babies so that they can smoothly transition to their forever homes when they are old enough. These will be big dogs eventually. If interested, please call Ashley Rayborn (225)719-2702. They are $1800 each, and they will be CKC registered. We will keep the pictures coming as they grow. (Ashley will be keeping 2 pups eventually. They are anxious to see each personality develop as they grow.)

Hello, my name is Jeffrey. I am a ~1 year old neutered male and I am current on all of my vaccines. I am very affectionate and love to cuddle. I am looking for a family of my own. I would like to be an indoor only kitty.

Does anyone know this dog? He was found on Highland Road near Hwy 66. Please let us know if you know where he belongs.

What's cooler than having your pet spayed/neutered to keep them healthy? Having a sweet tattoo to visually show that they had surgery. We love our patients, and we love offering cutting edge medicine and surgery. We use a state-of-the-art CO2 surgical laser for their surgery to minimize their bleeding, pain, and shorten their healing time. With that, we also like to keep them stylin' with the coolest tattoos (either a paw print, a lightening bolt, or a straight line). St. Francis Animal Medical Center is where the cool pets go. Follow the purple paw prints up our driveway to our beautiful hospital and boarding/daycare facility.
