I grew some fun little melons this year.
These are a sweet, white-fleshed melon, but small! These are just so pretty in the garden, certainly can't miss them! 😍
I only have a couple so I won't be sharing this year, but might add them to my rotation.

Trying out some new jelly flavors this week.
Moving from fruits to flowers!
💐🏵🌹🌺🌷🪻
This week I picked violets, seeped the petals into a tea of many colors then made into a beautiful and lightly "flowery" tasting jelly!
I love it!! ❤️
Next up: peony, honeysuckle and rose petal jelly!

Plastic up and all the strawberries and blueberries inside. Also got all the raspberries, rhubarb, elderberries, kiwi and asparagus planted in the old pigyard! Peach, plum, nectarine, cherry and apple trees are doing great - Ready to watch it all grow now!

Definitely spring time at Oh Jam Berry Farm!
Got a message from UPS that my shipment from Indiana Berry Farm would arrive on Wednesday, so we had to quickly get things ready. I had tried to move the dirt around in the old pigyard after Sam Parrick tilled it up a few weeks ago and it was like CONCRETE! 😩😬
So, Ronald Parrick, being the wonderful husband he is, changed his plans yesterday and borrowed a dump trailer to bring me some pond dirt to mix into it. Then our great neighbor came over, leveled it and tilled it in! It is perfectly soft now, ready for all the plants! 🥰
Today, I got busy cutting holes into the high tunnel w**d fabric, so I can plant 175 strawberries 🍓 😋 Not as easy as planned but I got it done. (Do not look at my uneven lines or my circles that don't match - I DON'T CARE!) They are done and ready for plants. Thank goodness!
Everything is growing well outside and in the greenhouse, but for now my back is screaming at me 😩 so I am done for the day.
UPS delivered the goodies tonight, so tomorrow and Friday will also be busy days, hopefully I can walk!

Retirement is so much fun! 😃 😖👍🥴

Greenhouse plants are doing great - can't wait to get some of these outside. But, of course, we have storms tonight! So I wait..
Did manage to get w**d fabric down in the pigyard yesterday and secured for the storms tonight! 🙄😬

Just inventory getting started! 🥰🥰
Tomatoes, bell and other peppers, squash, cucumbers, blueberries, rhubarb and daylillies.
My apple, peach, nectarine and plum trees are budding and flowers made it thru the freeze/snow! And more planted inside to move to the greenhouse in the next few weeks.
Yesss! love this time of year ❤️

I wish the weather today would have been like yesterday BUT we still got the high tunnel up, despite 45 degrees and 15 mph winds! We will install the plastic on another day with less wind and a few more people to help.
I'm SO happy and excited 😊

Getting seedlings moved to the greenhouse and prepping my 2 new areas for a strawberry full high tunnel and raspberry/rhubarb/Kiwi patch!
Can't wait to see how they all do!

Prepared the new Raspberry and Rhubarb beds with bags of leaves and oat straw. Will let it settle all winter and till under in Spring! This was the old pig yard, so plenty of manure already! 💩
Ordered 100 raspberry roots and started 65 rhubarb seeds in the house. Can't wait to get them all planted in a few months!!
This is in addition to 200 strawberry plants in the high tunnel! 🍓🍓
Here we go 2024!!
