CT Imaging can be very enlightening for veterinarians as a diagnotic tool. We are proud to be the only clinic in southern Utah to offer CT Scans. A Computerized Tomography (CT) Scan is a diagnostic tool that uses X-Ray to create detailed, cross-sectional images of the body that can be viewed as a 3-D image. The detail provided allows a veterinarian to more easily discover a problem. Used in dental procedures, 3D imaging allows us to look at every tooth individually from all directions and angles, allowing us to see what is happening below the gumline, such as pockets of infection or bone degradation. A feature of the CT scanner is fluoroscopy. Fluoroscopy shows real time moving X-Ray Images. This can be used for swallow studies, heart, or intestinal diseases, etc. The detail provided by CT imaging can often help to diagnose a problem without other invasive measures like surgery. CT imaging can also be helpful to determine more details In the event of bone fractures to give more Information about the best way to repair a fracture.
