For my safety as well as the safety and well-being of my clients, I have expectations that must be met by you, the customer.
•Hoof care is expected to be maintained on a reoccurring schedule of no more than 8-week intervals. A reminder text will be sent to you to one week before your horse(s) are due, to get an appointment scheduled. An additional confirmation text will be sent one day prior to y

our appointment.
•Horses are expected to stand to have their legs and hooves handled in a safe manner. If your horse is behaving in a way which puts themselves - or myself- at risk of injury, sedation or calming aids should be provided to ensure the job can be completed safely and efficiently. Please disclose this information while scheduling your appointment.
•You are expected to be present for the initial hoof care appointment. If you are unavailable for subsequent visits, a message will be sent to you after each appointment. This message will outline any pertinent information about your horse(s) hooves during the appointment.
•Payment must be rendered at the time of service. Payments are accepted in the following forms: Cash, check, PayPal, Zelle, and Venmo

Super stoked to get this mare trimmed for the first time without sedation. We were only able to do the fronts, but she was a rockstar. Definitely (over)due for a trim! Big shout out to Ken Na for being the world's best horse holder and spending the day with me, and her owner for putting in the work to get her safe to handle.

I am so grateful to Lindsey Field, of The study of the equine hoof , for coming all the way from New Zeland to share her knowledge with us. We spent the weekend dissecting horse and donkey limbs and discussing pathologies. We touched on so much including founder, laminits, navicular syndrome, balance, diet, animal husbandry, and SO much more! The amount of knowledge gained this weekend is absolutely priceless. To see the rest of the photos from these dissections (and hundreds more) check out her page!

Cool one today. Not my client, just a resident at the barn who was a bit overdue. Not very often you can remove the hoof and shoe together without blood. 🤪

When a client calls and says, "Hey, we just had a horse dropped off.. and one of her legs is facing the wrong direction" and they aren't exaggerating!

I am so proud of all my clients (and their humans) for going out this weekend and putting their best hoof forward. We had some good runs, and some with room for improvement. Thank you all for allowing me to be part of your teams! ❤️

When you spend the whole day working on Halloween, these are the update messages you send the clients. Apparently "Yellow" has been feeling a little too good recently.

When you get a call on date-night that your client threw a shoe and has a barrel race the next morning, you just slap on your boots and head on over. Sun dresses and chaps, it's all the rage 😂

Today was LONG.. and not just in the toe! In addition to a couple stops asking if I could squeeze in "just one more", I got a call to go shoe a couple mares who showed up at the barn as consignment horses, and we're very overdue. 7am-11pm was more than I'd bargained for today, but it was well worth it to help some horses in need.

I think they make National Farriers Appreciation week in the middle of July because it's the most challenging time of the year..

The long, hot days of emergency calls, abscesses, cracked feet, stomped off soes as a result of flies, and hooves growing faster than normal.

It's so easy to only remember the horses that manically stomp at bugs.. But forget about the people who have cool barns, fans and fly spray at the ready and waiting.

It’s so easy to only remember the people who grumble about the rising cost of farrier services. The disrespect they show.. While forgetting about the many customers who pay on the spot. Who offer you a cold drink. Who thank you for your work.

It’s so easy to be frustrated with the brand new horse owner. Who doesn’t know what to do when a shoe is off. Who’s fretting over chipped feet. Who blames you for arthritis and hard ground and the destruction stomping at bugs will do.. And forget about the good horsemen you work with. Who know how to treat a wound, wrap an abscess or understand that old horses ache. That green grass is not a pony’s friend. And hard ground is hard.

It's so easy to only think about the difficult ones. The old horse who can't bend his knees, or lift a leg high enough to trim comfortably. The young one who fidgets about while you work. The foundered one, who walks over lame and can hardly stand on three legs.. And forget about the fact that old horse is trying his best to stand quietly despite his discomfort. That young c**t is learning, and will grow to be a better client every visit. That foundered horse will walk away sounder, and happier for the extra time and energy spent.

There’s a saying, that 2% of the horses will lose 98% of the shoes. And that’s true.

Moral of the story; Don’t let the 2% of bad, ruin the 98% of good.

Thank you so much to all of my wonderful customers, I am so grateful for the relationships we've built.
Thank you to all of the farriers who've mentored me, and helped me grow along the way.
Thank you to all of the vets who've worked along side me, to keep the old ones sound.
And thank you to all of my friends and family, who supported me all those years ago in pursuing this wonderful career path.

Happy farriers week to my fellow farriers. Stay cool out there and remember the good!

A sweet young lady made this at my first stop of the day, getting her new 4H horse shod. Grateful to work with good horses, and a community of folks dedicated to keeping our youth interested in AG!
