Free to a Good Home: Livestock Guardian Dog – 5-Year-Old Akbash (Oso)

We are looking to rehome our beloved livestock guardian dog, Oso. He is a 100% Akbash, 5 years old, and from the same litter as the Akbash pup featured in The Biggest Little Farm movie. Oso is an exceptional working dog with a strong protective instinct and a calm, loyal temperament.

He excels at guarding livestock and poultry, and has actively protected our farm from predators—including killing skunks and even a coyote. Oso is trustworthy, independent, and takes his job seriously.

While Oso is fantastic at his role, we’ve come to realize that our 10-acre property isn’t quite enough space for him. He would thrive on a larger farm or ranch where he has more room to roam and work.

In addition to being a top-notch guardian, Oso is also a gentle and loving family dog. He enjoys porch naps during the day, and he’s always the first to greet us when we get home.

We are not asking for a rehoming fee—our priority is finding the right home where Oso can continue to do what he loves in the space he needs.

Interplanted beets and lettuce mix.

Just one of the practices I use to save space and reduce pest pressure. The lettuces grow fast and can be harvested multiple times while the beets mature. They provide protection from pests and keep the beet roots looking nice too. Lettuces this week with beets coming next week! 👍
