IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
To all of my wonderful house call clients, I want to start by saying thank you so much for these past 14+ years of loyalty and patronage. With some of you, I have grieved alongside you through the passing of at least one of your animals, and I have also been delighted to meet your new animal friends.
I am not closing down forever. But I do need to take a break from house call services, for the rest of 2024. I'm okay, I just bit off more than I could chew this year, and over scheduled myself for various things, and I have come to realize that I can't keep trying to juggle all of these comittments at the same time. I completely understand that you will need to find other arrangements to make sure your animals get the care they need. If you decide, once I resume my house call services, that you would prefer sticking with your new groomers, I would never hold that against you either. I plan to resume my house calls around January 2025, and will make an announcement here on this page that my pause in services has been lifted and that I am scheduling again.
I apologize to all my amazing clients for being unable to message you back in a timely manner this year.
Thank you for your friendships and your trust. I hope to see you in 2025!
Sincerely,
Jessica Lundgren, CVT

Does your cat need to be groomed? Maybe they’d love to look and feel their best for the holidays!

**Currently scheduling for the week before Christmas: Tuesday December 19th, Friday December 22nd, and Saturday December 23rd.

Offering housecall grooming for cats!

(Anywhere in Columbia County, and within a 90 minute radius)

Does your cat have mats? Or is their fur very greasy, requiring a bath?

I offer 3 different in-your-home grooming options for cats:

*sanitary shave (shaving the potty zone under the tail)

*minor mat shave: (shaving 1-3 small mats anywhere on the cat’s body)

*or lion shave: (a full body shave, leaving just the face, neck, legs, and full tail furry. You can customize this hair cut, so that the tail can be shaved to leave just a pom pom on the end like a lion, or have the shoulders and neck shaved in addition to the rest of the body, leaving only the face furry. During a lion shave, all remaining, unshaven fur, will be thoroughly brushed, combed, and Furminated, ensuring that no tangles, mats, or excessive dead undercoat remain. If your cat has a greasy coat, I can also cleanse their fur and skin with a warm damp washcloth and cat-specific, cat-safe waterless shampoo, or, if needed, and if the cat allows me, I can do a full bath in your kitchen sink after the haircut. (I do not use a blow dryer on cats, so if your cat gets a wet bath, I would dry them with your towels and allow them to finish air drying.) Included with the lion shave, are a complementary ear cleaning, nail trim, and a check for fleas. If any fleas are found, I can recommend a cat-safe, veterinary-approved flea medication for your cat.

I bring all my own tools and supplies! All I need from you, is a person the cat trusts, to assist me in keeping the cat comfortable and reassured during their grooming, a safe indoor space with an electrical outlet, (either in your home or in your garage) a table to groom on, a large bath towel or two that you don’t mind getting cat fur on, and if we will be attempting a full bath for your cat, a sink large enough for your cat to comfortably stand in. I bring everything else.

Many cats are shy around strangers, and I completely understand that. I am a licensed Certified Veterinary Technician of over 17 years, and one of the things I specialize in, is cat behavior and working with nervous cats. I do have a “cat hat” which is a soft mesh fabric mask that reduces what a cat can see, and for many cats, that reduces their stress level and helps them to feel more safe. I always bring this with me for cat grooming, and if your cat is feeling overwhelmed, I may try this for them. I also always bring Feliway spray, and with your permission, I like to spray that on the towels you provide for your cat to rest on. Feliway spray contains the pheromones (natural hormones) that lactating mother cats make when nursing their kittens, and the smell of these pheromones helps to relax cats and helps them to feel safe.

I have been performing lion shaves on cats for the entire duration of my career, so over 17 years. I am very experienced and comfortable helping your kitty feel and look their best.

I do not have a strict time limit for lion shaves. Most take between 30 minutes and an hour, but depending on the cat, it could potentially take twice that long. There is no additional charge for extra time. It is vital that I go at your cat’s pace, and that I keep their stress level low. Most cats require several short breaks during a lion shave, where I stop the grooming so that they can relax on the table with their owner petting them and reassuring them. The price for a lion shave is all inclusive, for the lion shave, the combing, Furminating, ear cleaning, nail trim, and the dry shampoo bath or wet bath if needed.

Attached are a few photos from google of what lion shaves typically look like on cats.

Please send me a message to schedule! Let’s help your cat look and feel their best!

Would you mind going on Instagram and giving this audition video of Noochie a like and maybe a comment, and if you feel inspired, maybe follow her page on Instagram please?

She has been in one TV commercial so far, and this is her audition video to represent PetMeds (1800PetMeds) basically as their ambassador!

It would mean so much to me if she was able to get this role. It could open up a lot of opportunities for her to star in additional TV commercial work, and she absolutely adores being in front of the camera, working her little heart out for some cheddar cheese. In addition, this opportunity could help me pay off some personal medical bill debts. Ultimately, I just love this little girl, and I would be so thrilled to get to share her sweet, loving personality with the world.

Here is the link to her audition video on Instagram:

My sincere thanks!!

Please never declaw your cats. Declawing a cat is the surgical removal of their first toe joint and bone, it is not just removal of the claw. In a high percentage of cats that have been declawed, they will end up having serious behavioral issues such as aggression/biting, and litter box avoidance/pottying in the house outside the litter box. Also, if they ever need to defend themselves from a predator (even for indoor-only cats who might dash outside) they will no longer be able to climb a tree very well to get away, or defend themselves with claws. Most importantly, scientific research studies have shown that cats who have been declawed, are in pain for the rest of their lives, due to the way they have to walk on the stumps of their toe bones in an abnormal way after their normal toe anatomy has been surgically removed.

If you are having any issues with your cat being destructive or scratching things like people or furniture, regular nail trims can help a ton! For many young cats, nail trimming is only really needed whenever the nails become sharp again. Older cats may need more regular nail trims to prevent ingrown nails, because as they get older, they frequently will develop some arthritis in their toes, causing them to no longer want to scratch their scratching posts as often as they did when they were young, which is how cats keep their nails healthy and help prevent ingrown nails. If your cat is being destructive with their nails, nail trimming every 2-4 weeks will usually help a lot with that!

Here is a scientific study that recently came out, about how some vets are trying to help cats that have already been declawed, have less pain and less resulting behavioral problems. If you have a declawed cat, this study may be very interesting to you!

Look how cute this lion shave I did this evening turned out! Longhair cats can be prone to getting painful mats that pull on their skin and cause discomfort and sometimes skin infections. This kitty is feeling so much better after her haircut!

A lion shave includes the shave, a toe nail trim, ear cleaning if needed, and fully brushing and combing out the remaining long fur, as well as a Furminator treatment.

Please message me if you would like to schedule a lion shave for your cat! :)

Watch me trim my own 17 year old dog Rica's nails and you can see how gentle I will always be with your pets.

I have appts available in the afternoon and evening for this Friday May 13th and next Monday May 16th, for house call pet nail trims, a**l glands, minor mat shaving, sanitary shaves, and ear cleaning. Each service is $12, although the mat shaving can cost a little more if the mats are more significant. (They should still be minor mats only, as I am a licensed veterinary technician and not a groomer, so I am here to provide comfort for your pet and help them feel better, by relieving the pressure from the mats, and I don't have the grooming training to make them beautiful in the process of mat removal. I do provide full lion shaves for cats, but that requires a much longer appt slot and needs to be scheduled separately, and costs $150.) I do not provide baths for dogs. Travel to your home is FREE within St Helens, Scappoose, Warren, and Columbia City. For Deer Island, add $25 for travel, or for Rainier, add $35 for travel, or for Longview/Clatskanie, add $45 for travel.

Let's get your pets feeling better! I am a licensed Certified Veterinary Technician of 16 years and have been doing house calls within Columbia County Oregon for over 13 years, and I will always be gentle with your pets. No aggressive pets please, as I do not use muzzles or restraints and you need to be able to safely hold your pet still for me.

I trim nails on a variety of species including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rodents, rabbits, guinea pigs, and more. If you can safely hold your pet still for me, then I can trim their nails.
