Pardon the mess but we're finally starting the remodel on bunnyland and the chicken run! We're removing the 2 big trees on the property as they've grown out of control and are a danger to the house 😔 we've also had too many birds lost to the raccoons and will be finishing their enclosed run today.
Big changes are on their way for Collins Family Farm & Rabbitry and by the time baby boy Collins is here this July, we will be ready for new rabbits!

We are often asked how we are able to handle raising our own meat birds and rabbits. For us, we feel that raising our own primary meat source means we can guarantee our animals have the best quality of life before they nourish us and we know there are no growth hormones or antibiotics included. We treat every one of our animals with love regardless.
We made the decision years ago to do what we could to be more responsible consumers, to be more conscious about where our food is sourced from, and to be more self-sustaining. If the last year and half has taught us anything, it's that nothing is guaranteed and you never know what could happen tomorrow.

Peep peep peep! CF Farm & Rabbitry is slowly starting back up y'all! We're focusing on reorganizing our set up to better accommodate our family right now and can't wait to have things open back up after such a difficult year. Be on the lookout for new and exciting adventures as we navigate urban homesteading with a toddler! Thank you all for being patient with us and we hope everyone stays safe and healthy ❤

Sunshine is good for the soul! Be sure to get out and enjoy it as much as M.J. has been with his new hen we adopted from our neighbors because their flock was picking on her a bit too much. Where M.J. goes she loves to follow. He's not sure what to think of his new friend but once our chicks and ducklings arrive he'll have so much fun watching them grow ❤

The west coast wildfires have caused so much destruction! I'm so thankful our little rabbitry is not in any danger. The smoke has been pretty consistent for the past week so today's plans are laundry while watching some baseball, got to introduce M.J. to his future career, and prepping his new diapers to get back to full time cloth diapering! The events in recent weeks and months have grounded us and reminded us we have to do all we can to take care of Mother Earth and getting back to cloth diapers is a small step.

Small steps add up and no one needs to make huge changes all at once or immediately turn into a low waste household. If we all make small steps we can effect big change ❤

Happy Sunday from CF Farm & Rabbitry. To all our community members dealing with the wildfires, our hearts are with you and hope you all stay safe!

Living in a smaller, more rural town has so many benefits but one draw back is there is no ramen shop close by! Last night we ventured out of our cooking norms and made our own homemade ramen with leftovers in the fridge and a few items we didn't have...it was AMAZING! It was such an easy recipe, with a bit of prep, that came together so beautifully and definitely satisfied that craving we'd been feeling. One positive that's come from this pandemic has been our ability to slow down and return to the things we enjoyed doing, like experimenting with new recipes 😉
Through the darkest times the brightest stars will shine; spend this time focusing on yourselves and the things you forgot you loved doing. Now is the time for self care to refuel your mind, body, and soul. Take advantage of the down time and enjoy the little things in life ❤

Now that our baby bun is 1 and able to play more independently we're in full swing with getting our rabbitry reopened! We're looking for a pedigree female to add to our stock to be able to have a pedigree line. We're hopeful to get into shows in the next few years, once the pandemic is under control, as well! Big things are in the future for CF Farm & Rabbitry! Thank you all for the continued support and we can't wait for all that's in store for us!

I am loving this sunshine and taking advantage of it by sun bleaching my for my pocket diapers. We don't cloth diaper 100% of the time but are working towards that goal. Small steps towards less waste add up. .
