I came across this tribute to Seve: BISS Ch, Eldorado's Birdbrain JH. I wrote it when he passed away but never shared it. I would like to do that now.
He was what the old timers called an "honest dog". Born in 2001 he left us in 2014 He did not suffer nor would we have let him. We still miss him every day.
He was noble, beautiful, capable. He never refused you. He was a dream to hunt, only ever on wild birds with Mike. And Seve never let him down. Seve won the AWPGA National and BOB at both supported entries. He had many group placements.
Seve travelled out of Oregon and Washington only once. And that was to win the Breed at Eukanuba under the esteemed Judge Dr. Asa Mays. He went on to win the Breed all three of the following days. People are incredulous to learn that that was the only time he ever travelled out of Oregon and Washington. He was never put on the road with a handler to be campaigned.
When Dr. Mays passed away, the AKC featured a tribute to him in the Gazette. Included in that article was only one picture, and that was of Judge Mays awarding Seve BOB at Eukanuba.
He was invited to Westminster every year he was shown but we never took him. But two of his daughters were shown there at different times; on winning the Breed and the other BOS.

Most of all we loved him. He was a great guy, funny, a wonderful Ambassador for the Breed. Gentle with children and always good with other dogs in any situation.
We remember picking him up from the airport as a baby. He barked all the way home. I think that was the naughtiest thing Seve ever did!
We remember how as a puppy he would jump straight up in the air with joy. He did this all his life.
We remember his first hunt test. A chukar flew into acres and acres of briars. He searched and searched and delivered the bird to hand. He blew the judges away with his drive.
And we remember him in the ring. He owned it. He had a presence you couldn't forget.
Those of you who have his sons and daughters and grand babies, cherish them. You have something very special.
Sleep softly beautiful boy.
