This is a bit more advanced skill to learn. The command to "leave it". Here Eric is at the beginning of teaching Bella to leave it. Bella notices Eric's cap but does pick it up, though she's temped. It is a learning process.
With continued training and practice Goldens continue to learn and develop their skills. Here is Bella, heeling off leash. Notice how she pays attention to where Eric is going and stays at his side.
This is Bella. She came for obedience training. When she came she would pull on her leash. Here Eric is teaching Bella to herself nicely without pulling...
As we continue to train Tilly we build on what she has already learned and understands. For example she understand sit, and sit / stay. So we build on that by adding a down command after she sits and build to a down / stay letting go of the leash...
When you start out teaching a puppy to "Heel" on a leash they are unfamiliar with a leash, and don't know what's expected. With lots of patient teaching and encouragement this is what happens. Notice here that Tilly is young but listening and wanting to please! Typical Golden personality that I love! The leash is loose, no pulling going on. She sits when asked and as my feet stop. Tilly is a joy to work with!
At Sharptailridge we do lots of training of puppies and even adult dogs. Be believe you can teach old dogs new tricks.Lol😂 We currently have young little Tilly here for training. She's a quick study and learning well. On this video she is showing off here understanding of the command stay.
Training tip for feeding your puppy: 1. Have your puppy sit, 2 put food in front of puppy, 3 wait a second or two, 4 invite puppy to eat. This allows puppy to learn that you are in control, that they can wait and that they will be fed. Remember consistently is key!
Goldens love to follow your leadership, and they want to please you. It's such a win/ win for training!! Don't let your puppy chew on your hands, only licks or kisses! If they chew on your hand say no kindly but firmly, then offer them an appropriate thing to chew on such as a porky puff from Life's Abundance. They love them!
Let's talk training tips!!! #1... Always have your puppy sit before petting your puppy. Puppies love your attention and when they understand they need to sit first they will be happy to do so.
However, these porky puffs from Life's Abundance are a definite favorite for puppy and me!!! This option allows my toes to be pain free and my crocks to stay where I left them! A win/ win!!! Let me know if you need some.
Be careful where you leave your crocks!!!
