I thought I'd share a bit about me and drove me into becoming a trainer and why it is more than just a job to me💜
It started when I adopted my first dog from the local shelter! Cable wasn't very shy and he would bark at everyone who came inside and at everything and everyone passing outside. So I needed to figure out what to do to help him feel like he didn't need act that way.
Lots of time, patience, treats, and couch cuddles later he improved! I still have to give him reminders to chill, cues like bed or settle, but that's ok!
Then I adopted Nyx! Shy gentle giant that she is for unknown people and places sent me down a rabbit hole to help her out too! Learning how to socialize and adding positive reinforcement to make her feel confident and knowing I have her back to remove her from situations when she's over stimulated or using the cue "touch" to bring her in near and give her comfort has helped a lot but we still have a ways to go!
It's a work of love that's non stop but that's ok because the bond I have with them and the improvement they have made is worth it, they are my best buds and I'd do anything for them!
I want other pet parents to feel that way too! Which is why I wanted to become a dog trainer, and that PetSmart was looking for one at the time I was looking into it was meant to be and I have loved every bit of learning and helping others bond with their pets while working through issues and understanding their dogs, figuring out what works that comes with it and all the successes and if I can help you too, it's worth it as well💜
